Penny - I think DGG answered it. No one answered my question! :) I was probably 13 or 14 when I got my first subscription. (Some crap like YM magazine).
I'll ask mine again - how old were you when your parents let you stay up till midnight and/or even drink champagne on New Year's (Eve)?

cheffy: my parents didn't have set rules about going to bed at a specific time. My dad worked the late shift, and would wake me up when I was a toddle when he came home at midnight so I would watch tv with him. They basically let us fall asleep when we fell asleep, we just had to be awake on time to go to school.
Champagne on New Year's: I don't remember, probably 7 or 8.

About 4 or 5, when I visited my uncle in Dallas. The first time it ever snowed in the Houston area, however, I was about 12 or 13.

2 or 3 - mom would give me about 1/4 cup of coffee and fill the rest with milk - it was the only way she could get me to drink milk. And I'm still drinking coffee with lots of milk.
