I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. It definitely took away the focus from regular storyline action, and some of it was odd.
I find it interesting how Brittany and Santana have been featured more in the past couple of episodes than Quinn, and they aren't regular characters. What I mean is that they are not in the regular cast list.
I love Brittany and Santana so I don't mind that they are being featured. Brittany always has some great lines. Although it didn't really move the plot along, I liked the episode. Great one liners like always.

The problem with the book of the Madonna episode is that it was more a political propoganda piece than a story. Will says to the guys during the episode "You guys are treating the girls poorly." Just last week we saw Santana and Brittany treat Finn poorly. Quinn lied to Finn about the pregnancy, the Asian girl lied about her stutter. And Rachel has been a snob the entire show. So the "women are treated poorly" storyline was subpar.
However, certain lines in the scripts are funny. The actress who plays Brittany must be really liked because she is getting great lines. Next week: "I think my cat is reading my diary."
On a positive note, I am glad to see that they used the special needs girl as a cheerleader. I was hoping she just wasn't a one off character. Hopefully they'll give her a storyline.
I'm not a madonna fan so this episode meant crap to me in that respect although I really enjoyed the cast. The like a virgin number had me hysterically laughing (well and sighing over the matt in bed parts) and I liked "like a prayer". Everything else was ok. The part when the guys spoke/sang we got a brief puck solo. I liked how they poked fun of a few things said about the show in the first half. We all know the will hair comments give me such joy and this episode was great and the will getting sue back - awesome.

As a child of the 80's, I loved the Madonna songs.
Like A Prayer was fantastic! I really hope they give Santana more to sing.
Damn American Idol ran more than 5 minutes over, so even though I had programmed extra time on GLEE, it still cut the end off.
Why is AI always going over? The show is not live and they can cut it to fit the time slot.
ug.

Oh yeah, I loved that too! ;D
Like with Jesse and the "can we at least talk about it? Or sing about it" lol. And Mercedes saying how she's always brought in just for the big wailing notes at the end (which is totally true) haha. The show was definitely showing some self-awareness going on in this episode, which is cool!

Maybe a certain someone has The Power of Madonna album (7-songs) and the Vogue music-video. Maybe if you ask nicely (via PM), this certain someone will share.
Loved the episode. But I'm also a total sucker for flashing lights, Madge, choreography and cheesy plot-twists.
PS: The actress who plays Britany must MUST LOVE each time she cracks open a script. That girl can play dead-pan SO WELL, she must secretly relish in having the best one-liners each week.

Brittany asking Mr. Schuester if Jesse was his son had me CRACKING up!!!! that girl is hilarious.
btw... who sang Ray of Light??
Does anyone know what the actual prize is with this glee audition contest that's going on? I know the winner is supposed to get a role on the show, but is it recurring, a guest spot, a walk-on, or what? I'm just wondering because I actually would rather see more Brittany and Santana than a new person. I think Brittany just speaking is hilarious. It almost seems odd that Sue trusts her to spy on the glee club.
I loved that A Chorus Line was playing when Jesse and Rachel were making out.
I love me Brittany! Her lines are just as great as Sue's.
Count me in as a Brittany fan:
"I really think my cat has been reading my diary."
I loved Like a Virgin! Not so much the song, but the concept and the way it was edited made it really fun to watch. Easily my favorite number so far this half-season.
Did any on else notice the COMPANY song book on the shelf in the library during the musical number?
And then they had a whole Sondheim section...
I loved last night's episode! I was born in the early 90s, so I was very unfamiliar with her songs. I kind of knew some of the melodies, but that was about it. The music on the show was amazing though! I really liked Naya's voice. I hope she gets more signing parts. And finally some Tina & Artie! They are totally my favorite couple. Tina is fierce, & Artie was sooooo cute at the end. More solos for Tina! Artie's voice is amazing, glad that we finally got to hear it after so many episodes. At this point, I honestly don't care about Mr. Schuester's love life. It slightly bore me. It was kind of cute in this episode because he was helping Emma. Otherwise, I could care less. What happened to Quinn's existence? & her belly during Express Yourself? Weird. Brittany is absolutely hilarious. Will shutting down Sue = amazing. I'll probably watch this episode again when it reairs on Friday : D
Can't wait to next week with Kristin Chenoweth :]
I am always hard on Glee, but last night's episode was the BEST episode they have done so far. Why? Because they bypassed a lot of the stupid dramatic crap they always do and became pure fun. Also, I love how we got to see Sue's ego pulled from under her. Plus the editing of the songs were amazing and I am SO glad that the other characters had something to do besides just be back up to Finn and Racheal.
Yes, the story wasn't progressed any, but there is always too much going on in one episode and this one took things slowly with the story and had the kids sing their hearts out and you can tell they were having a blast doing it.
Ps. I also want to re-declare my love of Kurt.
Anyone?!

No, I didn't notice the Company book or A Chorus Line playing in the background. Mister observant, I am not.
I'm on Tumblr a lot, & I find lots of Glee goodies on there all the time. For instance, this "acapella" (aka somebody turned down the instruments & the background vocalists) version of Like a Virgin. I'm slightly obsessed with it. It makes me love Naya & her voice even more, even if she's a whore :]
Like a Virgin Acapella
My favorite Britney line was from the beginning:
"I never say no. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? Sorry Quinn."
Awesome!
Brittany's cat line was the best yet--even better than the dolphins one.
I wish they hadn't shown the Vogue video last week. It was a lot better in context.
I absolutely loved "4 Minutes".
