"I don't buy Kurt as any sort of victim in the situation though. He completely steamrolled Finn, manipulated the whole situation with his parents, and was fully posed to take advantage of it at every turn. I think his self centeredness upstages even Rachel's."

I agree. I felt so bad for Finn and loved him even more for not trying to argue with Kurt's dad. He could have given several examples of how Kurt has been behaving towards him but didn't.

I thought he let him into the glee club because Jesse transferred to their school district so he had to go to their school... they just need to explain how/why he's no longer in their glee club

and if Charice were actually cast... when it comes GLEE (or any show, movie or theater production), does it really make any difference what her acting experience was before? most of the cast members had barely to zero experience... looking at IMDB, Chris Colfer and Amber Riley did like one tv show and Heather Morris was just a backup dancer in all her roles on tv... someone's gotta' start somewhere, right? "I don't buy Kurt as any sort of victim in the situation though."

I don't think you're supposed to. The show is such a strange, marvelous hybrid. It is completely unrealistic...but in that artificiality, it's able to explore some very real truths. And the one thing this show does VERY well is show good people making questionable choices. In the Kurt/Finn/Burt scene, everyone is reacting from a situation set in motion and never truly dealt with. Kurt's crush is uncomfortable to watch cause it is so true. Gay boys who have no outlet for their feelings tend to crush on straight boys...sometimes to the point of slight obsession. Those straight boys (the better ones) kind of deal with it and ignore it...never confronting it for fear of looking like a jerk. But the situation is made worse in doing so. And then there's Burt, who is learning to deal with his gay son and would of course get all papa bear at the slightest hint of someone attacking his son. My experience is that situations like this arise when good people f*ck up. And that's what happened last night. And it was compelling.

As was Ms. Menzel. Atta girl.

Mike O'Malley (Kurt's dad) is doing some really terrific work.

By the way, he's the brother of Kerry O'Malley, who was the Baker's Wife in the Into the Woods revival.

Idina is definitely a better singer than an actess.

Where was Sue Sylvester?

The show definitely exists on a alternate plane of reality...otherwise the full-scale production numbers are kind of hard to explain.

With the Kurt, Burt and Finn confrontation, I see it as Burt walking in, hearing the word "f*ggy" thrown around and working strictly on emotion and without any context in which to understand what's going on, just lays into Finn. No one really comes away clean...Kurt for being overbearing, Finn for lashing out or Burt for walking into and reacting to a situation blindly.

In the previews for the next week it appears that Jesse has returned back to the dark side.

I am not positive on this but I think the Jane Lynch absences may be due to the fact she had a film (Paul directed by Greg Mottola) that just finished (in post-production since April).

I liked Poker Face though the muffin lyric that still remained in the song made me giggle, considering the context.

Really loved the costumes on everybody for Bad Romance (well except Rachel murdering so many beanie babies with a stapler) but Brittany's silver lobster headdress killed me. Oh and Santana has a nice set of lungs from listening to both the show and live concert version.

Robbie - interesting analysis!

I loved the episode as did my wife and daughter. Idina really has a fantastic voice! You can really hear the difference in voice maturity compared to Lea.

Will the football boys be rehabilitated at some point? One dimensional characters have usually been converted at some point. Even Sue has a soft side.

Tink - thank god Matt is not a Yankees fan! glee!: The Official Love Thread

ahhh, yes that is from right around January I think. First sign of the abs really coming back. and of course I noticed the Mets hat. Not too happy about it, BUT it could be worse. My ex was a Mets fan so I learned to deal with it. I'll even route for them when they aren't playing the Yankees. As long as he's not a Red Sox fan, it's doable.

Santana, well Naya, was great during the live concert and looked like she was having a ball. She never stopped smiling, it was nice to see bitchy Santana so happy!

That is actually an AMAZING way of putting it! That's exactly how I felt about the situation, and why I was so moved by it. All of the characters involved are good people, and there were mistakes made by all three (but especially by Finn and Kurt).

Neither Kurt nor Finn is a creep or a douche for doing what they did. Kurt just allowed his crush to go a little too far, and Finn allowed it to boil up instead of confronting Kurt about it more calmly earlier.

In that situation, I did feel Kurt deserved the talking to from Burt because there's really no excuse for the language. But yeah, Kurt was certainly not totally innocent either (and maybe I'm just reading too much into Chris Colfer's acting haha, but I definitely sensed that Kurt DID feel guilty about it, like he wanted to let his dad know the context of the situation but didn't have the heart to let him down like that after he'd went to bat so majorly for him)

Aaanyway, can I just say that Cory, Chris, and Mike O'Malley all did SUCH a fantastic job in that scene. Truly fantastic performances from all parties involved, and definitely one of the most powerful scenes to happen on Glee thus far

Also, I have not fangirled over Idina in years, but seeing her this episode reminded me why I used to adore her so much <3 She's just incredible, and she and Lea were stunning together! (Poker Face is an awkward mother/daughter song haha, but musically I love that arrangement and they sounded SO perfect)

I loved this episode over all. And the Tina/Figgins vampire thing cracked me up glee!: The Official Love Thread As did Rachel's acknowledgment of how the piano player is always just around! LOL

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

About that Charice girl joing Glee next season -

"In other “Glee” news, rumors swirled that Filipina singing sensation Charice – who many have compared to a young Whitney Houston – would be joining the cast of hit FOX series, but the singer shot down the rumor on her not-yet-verified Twitter yesterday, writing, “i’m not going to be on glee. how i wish.”

In addition, a rep for Charice also shot down the casting news to Access Hollywood on Wednesday, noting it was “not true.”"

http://www.accesshollywood.com/glees-lea-michele-proud-of-not-getting-a-nose-job_article_32836

Who knows

And another point of the article - Lea says "that she’s “the only girl in her high school class not to get a nose job.”" Ummm, last I read you went to school in Northern NJ and no, I seriously doubt even 10% of your class got nose jobs. lol

I don't think I'm too far off in thinking that Mike O'Malley deserves an Emmy nod. As the tough guy who loves his gay son ("I love my dead gay son!"), he's spot on.

Jane Lynch is a comical genius, but O'Malley is the only actor on the show that can make me cry. Who would have thought this from the guy on "Yes, Dear"?

the thing about the whole argument between kurt and finn to me is that finn is not actually mad at Kurt for making the room "gay" or even kurt's crush on him. He's clearly just angry at the general situation at hand, which is being forced to move in with kurt's family and having to make massive life adjustments. I took the anger at kurt as a way of not showing his true anger at the situation in general. The writers made finn come off as homophobic, which honestly i don't buy. Kurt's dad walking in to defend kurt was simply a father sticking up for his child without knowing the context of the conversation.

I feel they treated it the wrong way, i felt name-calling at Kurt should have been treated as Finn using defense mechanisms to mask his anger at his mother and at the whole change in his life.

Sue's comparison of herpes and trophies really made me guffaw.

And even if it was only like a minute of Beck on Glee, it was amazing.
