GOP Strategist: Palin Won't Talk With Press For Two Weeks

The MSM should really hound Palin for interviews NOW! Her resistance to an interview will lead everybody to believe she's hiding something.

IN the next 2 weeks, she's gonna get Roviated so she can manipulate the media and play the victim. Just watch. So they think they can give her a crash course in history, foreign policy, national affairs, diplomacy (hah!), civics, the Constitution (oops, never mind - irrelevant), and all the other issues that a VP/Presidential candidate might need to know in two weeks? Fine. Lets talk up Sarahs remedial courses. If she needs the time, she needs it, poor thing. Give her a break. Not every VP candidate can actually be expected to actually know anything about, say, the US! I'm sure though that in only two short weeks, she can learn everything she could possibly need to know about how to run a country.

If Sarah can't deal with the press, how can she deal with Putin, Ahmedinejad?

I think it's a good move on their part. None of the candidates should be speaking with the press. The press is corupt and spin everything. Let the candidate speak to us via debates. First hand. No edits. No editorials.

JB2 you are wrong!

McCain has chosen a candidate 60 days before the election with no legitimate record to document her background! McCain could die on February 1, 2009! The voters must learn more about her now. One speech and a background video that begins: Mom, Moose Hunter, is not enough!

JB2 - Spoken like a true Republican. Sounds like you've bought what McCain campaign manager Rick Davis is selling:

"This election is not about issues. This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."

Let's see them try and hide her from a delirious rumor mongering hegemony, even if the MSM does not go into DT's, and even if she manages it...say she does hole up for two weeks wit Rove and she comes out sounding like Bushie. Where is the down side?

Besides---- 5 bucks says Carville has been retained and is already long past debate prep and is outright grilling Biden 5 times a day interrogation style.

This way they scrupulously control access to their candidate while bitching that Oprah won't have her on- despite the fact they have never talked to Oprah about having her on. It's all part of the Republicna strategy to paint poor little Sarah Barracuda as a victim of the mean old lefty media. Hate the media? Vote for poor Sarah and show THEM!

At least Cynthia Mckinney has spent more time on foreign policy and won more votes in elections than Mrs. Palin.

Perhaps she has, but I couldn't care less about that. I'm voting for her because of her views on community-based economics and decentralization of big governmental control, with provisions for more local governmental power.

re: GOP Strategist: Palin Won't Talk With Press For Two Weeks

It's classic Bush era strategy, shrewd and cynical. Make the media the enemy on day one, draw a line in the sand, and make the candidate who eschews any Q&A the courageous and moral one who "talks directly to the American people," exclusively via scripted talking points and tired and hypocritical put downs of the opponent. (They actually dared suggest that Obama isn't fit to lead, because he lacks military service, after 8 years of Bush-Cheney?)

There is one difference: the strategy is revealed and discussed as cynical strategy only 8 days after her reveal. The BEING THERE scheme can be seen through by the press and everyone not sucked into the Palin mythology. Reading letters in several papers, I'm heartened. I hold out hope that other than the lemmings base, who think a "Christian mayor" is critical to running a town of 7,000, people will not be fooled.

Palin has canceled all her appearances on the Sunday morning talk shows. They need to buy her a radio transmitter like the one Bush used while debating Kerry in 2004. Seriously!

I didn't think she was booked on any of them either (see I can be objective).

The news mentioned this morning that the Obama, Biden and McCain would do the circuit this weekend, but Palin would not be.

I have to agree, in part, with JB. I think it is a good move on their part. I'd hide her away too, knowing full well she is not reasy to face the press.

However, I do have to ask, JB, what in God's name do you hope to accomplish with your vote?

re: GOP Strategist: Palin Won't Talk With Press For Two Weeks

I personally think it's great she's not appearing on any of the Sunday morning talk shows, the longer she stays away from having to answer the tough questions the better. It will simply give the Obama surrogates ammunition. Questioning why she isn't willing to talk to the press...questioning if she has to be sequestered somewhere to be drilled on the issues and policy, when the other 3 candidates are out there mixing it up. The more the Obama camp can make it look like she's unprepared and has to be TAUGHT the job...the better. Hell, keep her in Alaska until the 1st debate. By the time they get her in front of the cameras again...she'll look even more like a programmed automaton. It'll be fun watching her eyes...as she scans her brain trying to find that right "talking point" that's been drilled into her.

You raise good points, Justaguy. News cycles are now about 24 hours. Every single day she fails to do what's expected of any candidate in her position she fails a battery of tests: readiness, media savviness (if she's so damned onto the media, should should be able to outwit 'em), and knowledge. What the Democrats must do, starting TOMORROW is say "where is she? Let's her her account for what she'd do. They are so terrified of being "secular, but someone must ask if she really believes God wants the pipelines completed.

re: GOP Strategist: Palin Won't Talk With Press For Two Weeks

However, I do have to ask, JB, what in God's name do you hope to accomplish with your vote?

What I accomplish when I vote, is that I cast a vote for something that I believe-in, rather than against something I don't believe-in, or just for the lesser of two evils. I detest the choices of both major parties (and almost always do). And why? Because all the candidates are guilty of what the accuse the others of being or doing. I won't cast a vote against one, and settle for another. I wish more people would vote for what they truly believe, and not just for useless rhetoric. All of you Democrats really believe something will be better for you, if they get into the White House? I don't. Too many people put all their hopes (and blame) on the President. The two major parties know this, and so they promise a whole load of things that just aren't even remotely possible to deliver. People don't put enough time or effort into selecting representatives or local politicians that can affect real change. And nobody wants to work together. Everybody just wants to blame the other party. The very idea of voting party is both incomprehensible and abhorrent to me. Other than Boston Tea and Communist, I don't believe there is a political party for which I haven't voted for at least one candidate in my lifetime. That's because I don't vote party, I vote candidate. True, since 1970, I've only voted for one winning president, but my votes have resulted in many local and state wins, and I have the peace of mind in knowing that my vote was cast for who I truly believed-in. The only wasted vote is not voting at all. What do you hope to accomplish with yours?

And good for you JB2. I would rather have someone vote for someone they believe in as opposed to not voting at all. Not voting is a shame.
