I always wonder if Oprah hounds her about her weight when the cameras are off.
Thanks, Auggie and Robbie. There is a REAL discussion to be had here that can be completely divorced from the idiocy of fflagg and Howard Stern.
She was funny on The Soup. I think she's going to be a great host.
I think the 'slimming' of both Latifah and M'onique are great references for someone like Sidibe.
The double standard that kills me is that Latifah, M'onique and Jill Scott can be viable, sexy women...but chubby white women are viewed with disgust. It's kinda hateful.

SonofRobbieJ - Defender of squatty white chicks everywhere.
That frightening Beth Ditto thinks it's all gay men's fault.
robbie is right.

I totally agree. But there's a difference between being a little plump and being Gabourey Sidibe. Even at her largest, Queen Latifah was never that big.
ooo, wow, yeah. that's ssbbw.
Although I don't really have a type, I find bigger guys unspeakably sexy. I think I actually find it more manly. Don't know why. I mean...a guy could act like Nancy Kelly in THE BAD SEED, but if he's got a little extra around the middle, I'd think he's the butchest, sexiest thing around.
I've gone off topic, haven't I?
Back to Gabby Sidibe...we'd both hit Gerard Butler.

It's no longer relevant, but I'd like to see a Dreamgirls skit. Maybe Gabourey as Jennifer Hudson and Kenan as Jennifer Holiday. Or maybe just Gabourey as Jennifer Hudson ragging on working with Beyonce.

Entertainment Weekly said that it's official. She will host the April 24th episode. It's found in the article.
"It’s official now! Gabourey will be hosting April 24 with musical guest MGMT"

MGMT too? Sign me up again!
Spealing of MGMT, I heard the new song today. Looking forward to the album.
Back on topic: Gabourey's weight is an issue for her health to be sure, but I would have to say that it does not impact her talent at all. As an actress there is an openness and vulnerability to her that has nothing to do with her size and everything to do with her craft.
I know she wants to do comedy, but I would love to see her mature into a dramatic actress.

"I know she wants to do comedy, but I would love to see her mature into a dramatic actress."
But she doesn't have to choose one or the other. Like Whoopi Goldberg, she can be excellent at both.
Oh, I agree Goth! I was just mentioning that she had said she has preference for comedy.
I'm excited to see her foray into comedy because, in every interview I've seen her in, she not only comes off as funny...but smart as sh*t. That combo just thrills me.
