if possible, they should up the number of episodes to allow the story to breath a little.
I think they already confirmed they're sticking with 10 episodes next season as well.
Just finished book 3. WOW!
The Cersei chapter?
Oh, that appeared in my book as an epilogue to A Storm of Swords. My better half was laughing at me because I refused to look away from my phone. I just kept flipping the tiny pages.
That is what I meant - the teaser to book 4 at the end of book 3.
And, I still am not sure if King Stannis' Red Sorcerer is ultimately good or bad ... is that wrong?
I can't figure that out either! Honestly, no one in the book is totally good or bad, which is one of the things I love. There are no clear answers.
Told you the last chapter in book 3 before the epilogue was a BIG Holy Hell for me....I can't believe he pushed her...well he is sneaky but I was like holy hell and love the last Jon Snow POV chapter with him trying to decide to be Lord of Winterfell or keeping his vows, such a great character...also Jamie is so fascinating....I am almost done book 4...it is ok not as thrilling though..I miss Jon Snow
I had trouble getting into book 4. I think I in into it now, but it's hard to say. I don't care as much about these characters.
I was having the same problems with 4...I am almost done it but I can say it is my least favorite of the series
Back to the show:
I haven't finished last night's episode, but isn't Sandor Clegane being portrayed as much nicer to Sansa in the show than in the books? It seems to me that he wasn't this kind.
I honestly thought in the books that he did have some affection for her, and viewed her as an innocent. But, I have not seen how he is portrayed in the series. I think he has some softness for both the sisters.
I agree that there was a softness, but in last night's episode, he was very kind. He stopped her from doing something stupid and sweetly wiped blood from her mouth. I don't remember blatant kindness at this point. I may be wrong, though.
And the end of the episode was PERFECTION! (Strange that they chose to not burn her hair off, though, as it did in the book.)
Thought the same thing about her hair...awesome finale...The hound always had a soft spot for the girls and he did stop her from pushing Jeoffrey to his death...wish he called her little bird but that is ok...can't wait for next year

when you reread the series, like the bits about loras and renly, it's pretty clear that sandor has a "thing" for sansa.
i just had a genius idea for casting, if the show makes it that far. angela lansbury for the lady olenna tyrell, queen of thorns!!!
"comely? i have taught my margaery what comely is worth, i hope. somewhat less than a mummer's fart."
Ohhh, that's inspired casting! Angela would be PERFECT. I could also see Maggie Smith or Judy Dench in the role. We should play around with casting! Who do you see for Melisandre? I can't put my finger on who I see. Someone suggested Monica Bellucci and that seems pretty close to what I imagined if she had red hair. Someone else mentioned Morena Baccarin.
I do know that Sandor has a think for Sansa. I just didn't remember it popping up so soon. He has a tender spot for both girls.

i also thought of dame dench for the lady olenna, but she has to be able to go from giving the appearance of a doddering old woman to being a fearsome harridan that is in truth the matriarch of the tyrell clan (and does so from behind the scenes). dench is a very imposing woman, IMHO, too intimidating from the start to do the doddering part as well, though i have no doubt she could do it.
i do have to say that james cosmo is pitch perfect as jeor mormont. he looked nothing so much like an old bear in his last scene.
The only casting choice I haven't liked is Lysa Tully. I can't see where she once would have been a great beauty. The actress plays unbalanced very well and I cringe when she's on screen, but she wouldn't have been my pick.
I have only watched clips, but I agree about Lysa. She did not seem like a beauty, but perpetually damaged. The clips I have watched do seem amazingly faithful to the book
I am in the middle of book 4, and I am having a harder time following this book - maybe because I am not as invested.
Casting for season 2 is under way (filming starts at the end of July) Natalie Dormer, Anne Bolyen from the Tudors was cast to play Margaery Tyrell....great choice a little bit too old to play the part but since they have raised the age of most of the characters it might work...she was great on the Tudors, but still a bit old for Margarey (I was picturing someone a year older then Sansa)...I can't wait to see who they cast as Stannis
casting notice
She'll be fantastic in the role, but I agree that she's a bit old. They aged all the characters by like 2-3 years, so that would put Margaery around 17-18 when we first meet her. I am sure she will pull it off. Tommen is so young, though. There will be an even greater age gap when they marry.
True and i won't be creepy when she is suppose to be married to Renly...How old is Sansa suppose to be in the show? In the books she is suppose to be 12...so I am guessing 14 or 16? But she hasn't "bled" yet...
spoiler alert
I have to admitt her wedding night with the imp was great in the book but I think it might be a little creepy on the show seeing the actress is a teenager (she is in the book but it is different seeing it then reading it)
I think she's said she was 14 in the first episode when Cersei asked her. I know that's why they made the characters older, but it will still be creepy to watch. Daenerys was supposed to be 13 at the beginning, but I don't think they have mentioned her age in the show, have they?
