Not real happy with the 4th book so far. I am almost done. If a certain character is in fact dead, and another permanently blind, I will not be very happy.
I am only a little over 1/2 way through and I am having trouble keeping on. lol I don't care about these people, especially the Greyjoys. I assume they will play a bigger role as it continues, but it's sucking the life out of me.
Edited to add: Cersei describing her habits in Robert's bed made me want to gag. I think it took it WAY too far. Blech.
Edited to add again: The Sam and Gilly scene grossed me out, too. lol. It's not been a good few chapters.
There are absolutely no happy endings here are there?! Now this next book will come and we won't know what happens with anyone from book 4. And Martin usually takes 5 years to write a book. The end just seemed to leave WAY too many unanswered questions. Bah!
Well, I am just talking to myself at this point, but today is the day! I am just about to start A Dance With Dragons on my iPhone. YAY!
Nah, I am listening. I am still waiting for the book from Amazon, so I will be careful in visiting this thread!
I'm staying away from this thread! I tried looking through it but there are too many spoilers - I just finished book one and am waiting for a friend to remember to bring book 2 next time I see him!
That said, LOVED how close the series was to the book. Certain scenes were done EXACTLY the way I imagined them when reading - for example, the whole sequence with Lysa and Tyrion was so spot on it was almost like they just filmed the book.
Except I don't think the moon door is in the floor in the books. At least the second time it is referenced in the books, it seems to be in a wall.
You might be right - I don't remember either, but I think having it there added a nice level of drama.
Apparently at ComicCon the GoT panel was crazy. George R.R. Martin asked Jason Momoa who would win in a fight between Khal Drogo and the actor's other fantasy counterpart, Conan the Barbarian, Momoa shot back: "Drogo would kick Conan's ass. In fact, if Drogo were here, he'd probably say something like [screams in Dothraki for 10 seconds]. But since there's no subtitles, you don't know what the f**k I just said."
heh.
Another fan asked the members of the panel how they would end the series if given the opportunity.
Kit Harington (Jon Snow): "I want Jon Snow to be on the Throne, definitely."
Nikolaj Coster-Waldeau (Jaime Lannister): "The screen fades to black, and there's a sign that says '20 Years Later,' and there's a small cottage. And Jaime and Cersei are sitting there. 'Finally, my love. Finally.' And then the music."
David Benioff (exec-producer): "Everyone dies."
Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister): "[clears throat] … Dance number."
Jason Momoa makes every single bit of my no-no parts scream "yes-yes!".
God, I love this show. Starting the books as soon as I finish this sci-fi anthology I'm working on!
It's a very fine cast in general.
I also hella dig the rack on the chick who plays Daenerys...Miss Thing is HAWT.
Sorry I was in Italy for 2 weeks and I am finally back. I finished book 4 on the plane and I downloaded Book 5 on my kindle and started it on the plane ride home. I am on Tyrion's second chapter, if I wasn't so darn jet lagged I would be further in the book. Also the whole GOT's panel is on you tube.Gonna keep reading
I am having trouble sticking with DwD. Maybe because FfC was pretty boring with a few exceptions. Since the timeline catches up somewhere past the middle, I am looking forward to that. I just can't get interested in the Asha Greyjoy stuff. I think he is just including too many characters and storylines at this point.
Why was this bumped? lol
Hmm - somehow my post about last night's show disappeared.
Did anyone else see it?
The wildfire alone was incredible...truly one of the best episodes of TV I think I've ever seen.
last night's episode was awesome...I was enthralled and sad when it was over...I forgot it was a tv show and thought it was a movie...favorite line of the night ?"There are brave men outside our walls. Let's go kill them!"- Tyrion Lannister
This and last night's episode of Mad Men was one of the best night of tv ever
"The wildfire alone was incredible..."
Yes, it was. I had to photograph the scene right off the tv.
How bout the cliffhanger with Tyrion after the battle. (I read a spoiler and know what happens tho)
I've read the books through book 4 (I haven't been able to bring myself to start 5 since I know 6 is still a ways off) so no worries spoiling me. :)
SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO DO CARE
In the book, Tyrion's nose is actually sliced off completely. I'm guessing because of the CGI they'd have to run, they're settling for less.
My favorite line was The Hound's: "If any of you die with a clean sword, I'll rape your corpses." (or something like that).
I had a feeling while reading the book that they wouldn't slice off Tyrion's nose. This episode was so well done. I had a racy dream about Peter Dinklage last night. Well done, GOT.
Reportedly this was the episode that caused the producers to ask for a budget raise from HBO, even though they didn't get as much as they wanted. I agree that it was spectacular (as was Mad Men, in a different way).
Why was this bumped?
Since it was...
I finished book 5 last week...so I'm finally all caught up!
Very weird... LOL This was bumped because I was excited by the news of Diana Rigg being cast--yet my message doesn't seem to be here, but it was bumped... Let's see if this works.
