"Fess up, Leemy, you are with the FIB?"
Sueleen, does FIB have something to do with the FBI?

I think it's wonderful. There are so many kids out there that want and need a loving family - as long as there is love and wanting and caring and the ability to financially take care of them, does it really matter if it's two men or two women? That probably sounds naive of me, but it would be a big shame if many kids weren't adopted just because there's a lack of feminine (or masculine) influence. Many kids don't get that now with one-parent families.
Good luck in the future.

I know two kids raised by gay couples. (I also live in Alabama) One is a biological kid of one of the parents and the other was adopted. The adopted one I've known for about 6 years, while they're were some kids that were jerks, she never really had a big problem with her two dads. Of course there were normal embarrassment issues, but that happens with any parent. It's really all in how you raise them. I live in Alabama also, Madison. I don't know how far that is from your family, but our community if an open minded one. Good Luck! And Congratulations!!!

Children need love. Simple as that. Sure, there will be bumps in the road regarding being raised by gay parents, but that doesn't stop your ability to love. All children have different lives, and all go through some form of teasing for one thing or another. I know that this can be a very tough situation, but for children living in foster homes with oftentimes a shortage of love in their lives, all they are looking for is a family. And you can provide that for them.
I am, however, a litte worried about what you have said about where you live. If you are living in an area that does not accept gay lifestyles at all, you are forcing your child to possibly deal with more abuse from peers than if you moved to an area a little more accepting. If you are not ready to move for the sake of your child, you may not be ready to be a parent.
