I find this interesting as there have been other actresses on this show who have been pregnant and they have shot around them. Multiple actresses.
It will be interesting to see if this was the real reason. I will add (and others here will back me up) that Wuhrer did a wonderful job on the show, but her character was pretty much played out.
Discuss.
Kari Wuhrer
I haven't seen the show much over the last year, so I don't know much about her character, but I do find it hard to believe GH would fire her for getting pregnant. It seems more likely that her story had played out or that people just never warmed to her. All of the replacement brunettes have a hard time measuring up to Brenda.
They shot around Rebecca Herbst's pregnancy. I didn't even know Nancy Lee Grahn was pregnant until it was announced that she had had the baby - and she was shooting bedroom scenes! This just doesn't seem like a viable suit.

Sounds like she got one of the GH script writers to write the lawsuit for her. Maybe she should have chosen a writer from Law & Order.
"The vile underbelly of the Hollywood Machine encourages female actors to be as beautiful and slim as possible," the suit said."
No, it doesn't, but remember when Hope from Days (I can't think of her real name) sued Melrose place for the same thing? Didn't she win or, at least, get a nice settlement out of it?
I believe Hope won, and I am glad she got pregnant cause I loved Lisa Rinna in that role!
It wasn't Hope from Days. It was Hunter Tylo from The Bold and the Beautiful. The only Days connection was that Lisa Rinna had recently left the show.
As for Kari, anyone remember when she was on Remote Control on MTV? heh heh Man, she has done some CRAPPY B movies since then.
Kari Wuhrer? OMG, I'm so old-I remember the start of her career, eons ago, on a cable show called Remote Control. The other two beginners on that show were Adam Sandler and Colin Quinn.
Yup, on MTV. Goofiest game show EVER.
Yay, I'm not alone!
Remote Control was so much fun!
As I recall, Tylo did not win - but I could be wrong. I believe she wrote a book or something. However, as I said earlier, GH has a history of working around pregnancies, and I would imagine that would pretty much negate Wuhrer's suit.
Tylo won $5 mil.

As for Kari, she won't win. They have too much evidence of working around other pregnancies. I mean, she isn't the greatest actress in the world, but it is a soap. Maybe she is a diva and they want her gone. Who knows? I have never seen her on the show.
Oh, that's right. Thanks Jersey, well, I was somewhat close!
Too bad she probably lost any chance of ever working in Primetime again. I'm kidding, for all I know, she may have done lots of things I'm not aware of.
Wasn't the original Aunt Viv on Fresh Prince of Bel Air fired and replaced when she got pregnant?
I like Kari, but this seems like the kind of suit that could end up being more trouble than it's worth in the long run. I could be wrong though.
Meh, I never really liked Reese anyway.
I *sort of* keep up with General Hospital, and I have no idea who she was, so I guess that doesn't speak too highly of her character's importance.
She was prominent on GH but was only on for a few months, I believe. She was good - but her character really was played out.
Again, against a show that has such a history of accommodating pregnant actresses, her suit is pretty weak.
They are very loyal. Look how long they kept Lila and the original Edward. Until the end, literally.
There was quite an uproar when they took the elderly Anna Lee (Lila) off of contract status, not long before she died. Her son maintains that that blow is what killed her.
They gave her a beautiful memorial arc, but of course, that doesn't make up for it.
I'm sorry, but she'd looked extremely frail for as long as I can remember. It was upsetting to watch.
I remember some years ago when they had a huge anniversary party for she and Edward, and she must have been on some kind of medication that bloated her face. That was the worst I saw her look, and it was quite worrying.
She was in a wheelchair for many, many years. But she was wonderful on the show - perfect for the character she played.
Shamelesss-do you watch All My Children? They did the same thing with Ruth Warick. They wheeled her out in that chair until the last minute. I mean, poor thing, at the end you didn't know if she was dead or alive in that chair.
Jane, I do remember that about Ruth.
Rath, I agree that it worked for the character and it was also pretty clear that everyone loved her. I just think there comes a point where you have to do what you can to help someone preserve their dignity, even when they aren't willing to make that decision for themselves. I think that had a lot to do with why they didn't want to renew her contract.
That memorial arc - I think it was three days - was one of the most heart-wrenching things I've ever seen. It was beautifully written, and you could see that her castmates were truly grieving - it was clear she had had quite a positive influence on everyone.
