It is a double edged sword

You remember a lot of good things from the past that you would not have experienced were you not alive. The flip side is you are old & are closer to meeting you know who.

That's why we all need to live for the moment. Not for the past or future.

Just stub out your cigarette in it and get rid of the taste with a beer.

well there's two things on my side; I don't smoke and drink only socially. I also walk 2-3 miles daily.

I used to think that "getting old" was reaching 35 or 40! How silly was that? My 40's actually turned out to be a great time of growth and new self confidence. Just what one needs to leap into future! I now don't think of myself as "getting old", just "getting older" - which is the case with even teens. And meeting my maker? I could have done that at anytime in the early years. At least now I'll go with a wealth of experiences behind me and very few regrets. I can't wait to see what's in store in the next few decades! Bring it on....

it's amazing how our perception of what young and old is changes over time.

Now, in my 40's, 60 no longer seems old.

I'm in my 40s and consider it the best time of my life. Sure, I may be going through some tough, character-building stuff, but I wouldn't be 20 again for anything - especially with the world in the state it's in today.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Well, I'm 84. Getting old is not so bad, as long as you're in good health, keep your mind going and are surrounded by intelligent people. The rest doesn't matter.

And your body does change. Gravity, sun damage, other graphic things I won't mention and memory issues. I feel much happier now than I did when I was younger though.

Maybe we're happier now BECAUSE of the memory problems!

Why does the song "Middle Age Blues" now come to mind & why does it hit home so much ?

Yes, Caroline, it is an amazing song. Love "Getting Tall."

But you know what sucks? Being 20 and looking 45. Worst of both worlds. Going to the grocery store with your younger siblings (13 and 10) and being told what well-behaved children you have. That... that just sucks.

There is a small benefit. All though I am not the age where I can get in half price for the movies, all I do is take my hat off & my hair is all grey. Works like a charm every time. I have not been questioned yet

Polar Express Imax for my wife $ 15. For me it was $ 10. It all adds up

OK, Mr. R, enjoy your discount now. By the the time you can honesrly claim one, someone will have initiated a lawsuit claiming age discrimination and senior citizen discounts will be a thing of the past. Besides, when the bulk of the baby boomers are eligble for those discounts, there will be so many of us that it won't be profitable to offer any.

onceadancer - you're really 84? Wow! You are an inspiration. Good for you for keeping healthy and keeping up with the times, my mom is almost 30 years younger than you and she doesn't even own a computer, let alone post on message boards. Good for you! :)
