This show wasn't on my radar until I saw a commercial for it while watching something OnDemand. Caught it on Sunday night and pretty sure I enjoyed it.
The comedy revolves around doctors and nurses at a hospital geriatrics ward. Might not sound ripe for the comedic pickings but there are some genuinely funny moments. This comes mainly from the cast which features Laurie Metcalf, Alex Borstein and Niecy Nash. There was also a cameo in the first episode by Telma Hopkins who has been missing for the last few years.
Apparently this is a remake of a British series and it definitely has that feel. I can see this being a better British series because not everything translates. Case in point, the latest ABC misfire Lucky 7 (The Syndicate on BBC).
Has anyone seen the HBO version or both? What did you think?
Laurie Metcalf being in it already makes it a much watch.
But on a scale of 1 to 10, how ageist is it?
It's based on a British series, and it still retains the style of British humor to a large degree. I enjoyed the first episode. Borstein, Metcalf, and Nash are all really superb, and each had moments to shine.
