re: Gilmore Girls

Thanks for the news brdwaybaby! I was trying to replay the scene for a co-worker who missed the last few seconds because his DVR cut off, but I'm sure my performance wasn't nearly as effective as Lauren Graham's! Where did you hear that the WB was re-airing it?

re: Gilmore Girls

The writers have turned completely bipolar about Rory's character, and Bledel doesn't have the acting chops to at least try to make the contradictions work. One second she's Old Rory, getting geeky about a Velazquez in Logan's house. The next minute she's New Rory, reacting to a slight by committing a felony. She doesn't make sense anymore, and the fact that my recording of the season finale cut off before the end just gives me another reason to give up on this show.

re: Gilmore Girls

Alexis has grown incredibly as an actress, which you know if you've watched from the beginning. I hate what the writers are doing to her character right now - it IS a bit bi-polar. I can't stand what Richard and Emily have done to Lorelie - they were swayed by Rory's little girl crying jag and they can't WAIT to get control of her life by letting her move in with them. Lorelie better fight to get Rory back to the person she was meant to be. And Luke IS hot. I don't care what the actors think of each other off screen - they have excellent chemistry together.

re: Gilmore Girls

The funny thing is, I actually think Richard and Emily have never been better-written than in in this season. Their limitations- their classism, especially- have been made glaringly clear, but it fits in with their characters. And it makes total sense they'd let Rory move in with them, for the reasons you said, Redhot. They get to raise Rory as they see fit now, away from the slobs at Stars Hollow, and if it means that she drops out of college, that's a price they're willing to pay.

What I don't get is why Rory just didn't ask for a one-year sabbatical. That's actually pretty common- dropping out, no matter what Rory told her mom, isn't, not at the Ivy League level. But wait! That would mean the writers would actually have to exercise common sense! So never mind.

re: Gilmore Girls

Plum - I agree about how Richard and Emily are written - their characters get more complex and interesting every year - but I still get to be mad at them for how they're acting...don't I?LOL...I LOVE this show.

re: Gilmore Girls

See, I just want to smack Rory. What an unbelievably ungrateful little brat. She has blessings rained on her head every damn day, her mom did everything for her and didn't even freak out when she got arrested, and what does she do? When she doesn't get her way, she goes behind Lorelai's back to her grandparents. Ugh. She was about to go into summer vacation, a perfect chance to get your head together, but of course she had to behave in the most diva-esque manner possible.

The irony is that she's proving Logan's dad right. If she had an ounce of drive or determination she wouldn't have reacted to one man's opinion by giving up on everything and stealing a friggin' yacht. She expects things to come to her, just like all the boys that fall at her feet. Blech. Maybe it's for the best her grandparents are taking her- she can marry into a rich family and be an ambitionless hostess for the rest of her life.

re: Gilmore Girls

I understand the need to take a year off, I really do. But the way she went about her business in the finale was just awful. First she insisted on taking that cell phone call from Logan when her mom had just picked her up from jail, then she brought out that "you didn't go to college" comment at Westin's. Completely disrespectful of her mom, who really deserves better.

re: Gilmore Girls

I think Rory would be a so much more interesting character played by someone else. I liked Alexis in the beginning because her character was completely one dimensional and she did well with it, but now she's getting on my nerves. Did anyone see Bride and Prejudice, made every scene she was in very blech (which was only two in an otherwise good movie). I just hope she's not in that much of Sisterhood...

I love, love, love Lauren. Love Kelly Bishop as well. The end of this season got complicated, but added a lot of dimension.

re: Gilmore Girls

I still contend that it isn't Alexis that's the problem - it's the way Rory is written...what are those writers thinking?
AND...lately I've been thinking that, physically, Alexis would make a very good Audrey Hepburn in a movie of her life - she looks SO much more like her than that dreadful Jennifer Love Hewitt...SHE is just awful and looks NOTHING like Audrey - Alexis has the high forhead and same mouth and eyes...and speaking of "movies of the lives of" consider Lauren Graham in a blond wig playing Doris Day...lately we've been renting the old Doris movies and we constantly see similarities between the two - just think about it....

re: Gilmore Girls

LOVE The Gilmore Girls. Got the third season on DVD a few weeks ago. Absolutely adore Lauren Graham.
My favorite episode is in the third season when they cross cut Christopher's girlfriend (Sheri) having a baby with a flashback of Lorelai having Rory.
(formerly bronte604) "You really just love money and power and capitalism? You know they're never going to love you back." "Things happen for the best...I don't even believe that myself."

re: Gilmore Girls

I have the first two seasons and am anticipating the third for my birthday in a week. I liked that episode too, but could not stand the young Lorelei at all. One of my favorites from that season is the baby shower one.

re: Gilmore Girls

I liked that episode. While I may not have loved the girl playing Lorelai, I loved the idea of that episode. I was really excited they did something like that. I don't know how to describe it but I REALLY liked it. Maybe because I love Lauren Graham and the thought of her young like that. Loved that episode!

Christopher- "She's perfect"
Lorelai- "Rory was perfect. But she's a very solid second."

My other favorite part of that episode is when Chris comes in, and Lorelai is like, "Are you a Daddy?" and he nods. Um- he was already a daddy in case he didn't notice. Rory!
