I'm still disgruntled about this ooh lets add another character thing...I loved the episode...but seriously the only shows that add long lost kids are shows on their way out...its practically a historical fact....brady bunch... married with children...bad omen...
Gilmore Girls is supposed to be smarter than that...le sigh

I was really disappointed with most of this week’s episode…the endless scene with Rory harassing the newspaper boss…Logan’s obnoxious friends (those characters aren’t nearly as clever and funny as Amy Sherman-Palladino seem to think they are)…that ridiculous crap with Luke’s daughter (why are the writers resorting to something this cheap?).
All was forgiven, though, with the airplane scene. I love how Lorelei tossed off “and you didn’t lose me” as she walked away. It would have been so easy (and obvious) to play the scene as some sort of “moment” between Emily and Lorelei. So much more affecting to have Lorelei say it as she’s leaving the room, leaving Emily alone (Kelly Bishop collapsing into that airplane seat just broke my heart).

Posted: 1/10/06 at 7:33pmI can't wait for this episode! The hiatus was hard to deal with, but the excitement from Jess's episode was still lingering so I got through it. I wish he'd come back for good. I can't stand Logan. Grr.

Posted: 1/10/06 at 7:44pmyup, FINALLY new. I read way too many spoiler sites. I don't WANT to be spoiled, but since I know they're out there, I have no will power and can't stay away. I hope tonight is good!

Yay for a new episode!
JLSatUD, I know how you feel. I totally spoiled myself for a major plotline in the first season of 24, and ever since then I've tried to keep my viewing of spoiler sites under control.

Posted: 1/10/06 at 8:40pmAnyone else notice that Sherilyn Fenn already had a guest spot on GG a few years ago? She was Jess's dad's girlfriend. She had very short blond hair.

IWannaDance, I JUST CAME ON TO ASK THE SAME THING!
I thought I was wrong but I looked it up on IMDB. Very strange...I like Sherilyn Fenn though.

Posted: 1/10/06 at 8:46pmBleh, I hate the Luke's daughter storyline. How soap opera. How jump-the-shark.
#190re: Gilmore Girls Love Thread
Posted: 1/10/06 at 8:47pmI had to make sure on IMDB, too! I thought it was weird that a show would use the same actor for two different characters. Even years apart and with dramatically different characters, it's a little weird.

Yay for the new episode after a month and a half!
Good episode. I just hate how it's getting so soap-operay. Plus, I think the show has really gone down after Rory went to college and the constant banter between them was lost. That wedding dress was GORGEOUS though. She looked amazing. Luke is just making me mad though. Next week should be good, by the previews.
ETA: Oh my gosh I had no idea that was the same person. Didn't even cross my mind, she looks so different. Why would they do that? I just watched that episode on DVD today (the Sasha one), and I had no idea. Wierd stuff!

Posted: 1/10/06 at 9:48pmAnd this is totally off the topic of the new season, but has anyone seen season 3 on DVD? It has the deleted scenes, and the one deleted scene from the season finale (I won't give it away in case someone wants to see it but hasn't) was amazing. It completely broke my heart. I was so sad for Lorelai and Rory. And the flashback thing took me by complete surprise. Beautifully done, and I can't believe they took it out!

I had to bump this thread after last night's episode. I couldn't have been the only one who couldn't stomach the State of the Union.
Just when I'm ready to give up on this show -- the whole Luke's daughter thing and postponing the wedding is just a bad storyline and I'm done with it. And then they air the last scene and I'm completely at the mercy of the Palladino's once again.
Kelly Bishop and Edward Herman are just too wonderful (and much needed after being absent for a few episodes) and it was such a great scene -- well acted by all.
How have these actor's not been nominated for awards? Oh yeah, it's on the WB.

Posted: 2/1/06 at 8:37amThe last ten minutes of last night's show were some of the best minutes I've ever watched on television. I was laughing and crying at the same time. Brilliant writing and acting! I wish I had TIVO.

Posted: 2/1/06 at 10:04amI agree, the fight made the episode a lot better. Im really looking forward to next week's.

I had juuuust about given up on this show after having loved it for years, but what I saw of last night's episode was really impressive. I'm going to have to integrate it back into my tv schedule. There are a lot of things that make me sad this season--too much Logan, not enough Lane, random Luke-has-a-child plotline... but maybe it's snapping out of it.
By the way, I just want to take a second to rant about the total EVILNESS of the WB's next-week promos for this show. They're always about a trillion times more misleading than other promos (like, say, the one for that episode where the promo implied that Rory had sex with Jess and they used footage from FOUR EPISODES down the line to build that implication). So I wouldn't bet on next week's episode being quite as shocking as the promo implies. Maybe they'll prove me wrong.

SPOILER BELOW:
According to sources, the shocking news is NOT that Rory is pregnant. The shocking news is that she's moving in with her boyfriend. Paris got fired from the paper, felt betrayed by Rory and threw her out of their apartment.

Just watched the episode, I wonder if anyone really likes the April storyline? Anyway that aside, I loved the News room scenes and the Family fight scene. I think they've gone a bit too far with their characterization of Paris, they went to such an extreme she doesn't seem real. I'm glad Rory's not pregnant, sick of the post-ponement of the wedding, wishing I knew how to spell post-ponement, and realizing I *probably* shouldn't analyze a television show so much
