Godspeed, JohnPopa

Our local production of 'Titanic' the musical has lost their Mr. Andrews. They've found a new one: me. I go on Friday night for the final weekend which is this Friday, Saturday and Sunday here in glorious Canton, Ohio.

The theater's a nice 450 seat community theater with a full orchestra, full physical production, the whole shebang.

So I've got a solid three days to learn the whole thing.

And we are OFF!

Best of luck!
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

How did they build JohnPopa?

Nearly a thousand feet in length.

Good luck, Mr. Man

I am unaware of Titantic. Is it a big part? No matter how big, break a leg! If I could drive, I would come down and see you!

It's a pretty big part, 3rd lead maybe? (I think Barrett and Ismay might be bigger parts.) Two solos, one that opens the show (just me and a spotlight, I think) and one at the end. (Andrews is the ship's designer, by the way.) Lots of scenes with the Captain and Ismay (and a trio now that I think of it.) I don't know if he does a lot of incidental stuff in the bigger numbers. Man, I hope not :)

Congrats! John! Andrews is a "presence to be seen" and recognised througout the story. I last saw Kevin Gray play the role with the Bd'w tour a few years ago.

While I'm not crazy about the show... it's a good role to have on your resume. Break a Leg!

Break a leg! It's a good role. Luckily, you don't have to learn all the crazy chorus numbers outside the opening and closing. I love that show. Wish I could see your production.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

re: Godspeed, JohnPopa

It gets more fun: I don't get a put-in rehearsal at all. I got the blocking notes and will have to go from there. No biggie on the big two numbers as I'm onstage alone for them but all the scene work's going to be a bit dicey. My question was: are there any points where if I'm standing in the wrong place I might be knocked unconscious?

And they're taping the show this weekend for posterity.

Shows went off without a hitch, really. By this afternoon I was pretty much at ease onstage and going all out for 'Mr. Andrew's Vision.'
