You've completed your task
What more could we ask of you now?
Please sign the book on your way out the door
That will be all, if we need you we'll call
But I don't think that's likely somehow.

FYI anyone curious: Examiner.com is a "pro/Am" news/blog site. Anyone is free to write an article and if it gets widespread readership, you might get paid (a little) for it. That leads to some "sensational" articles getting posted with little or no basis in reality. As we saw in the previous election, there is a whole subset of people who ONLY want to be told things that reinforce their worldview. They want to be told that Mitt Romney will win in a landslide although polling shows otherwise.
I guess there are some folks who want to believe that gay marriage will remain illegal and gays will be deprived of their basic civil rights. They will no doubt go all "Rove" on us when that proves not to be the case.

Yeah--I was going to make the same point. Examiner.com is not a legitimate or reliable source of information. (For the record--I would make the same comment if an examiner.com article precisely reflected my opinions and values. It's just not reliable.)
Assuming that the content of this article is accurate, however, I would simply echo Kad's response. Am I supposed to regret my decision not to support Romney because of disappointment over a comment by President Obama regarding an issue which is important to me?
Why is it so hard for people to understand that the Republican Platform is offensive on many, many issues? As I've said elsewhere, while their desire to marginalize and criminalize my very existence makes voting Republican in this election a litmus test for me in evaluating my relationship with people, there are countless other ways in which the Republican platform offends my values and fails to live up to my idea of American Ideals.
If President Obama backpedals on his support for Marriage Equality, I will be disappointed, but I will not question whether I voted for the right guy.

I found this comment on the examiner.com (as well as an article claiming Goldie Hawn's real name is not Goldie!?) and it really sums up how I feel:
"Unfortunately people, the picture is a whole lot bigger then most realize. Obama had to go another 4 years to finish carrying out the master plan which in a single phrase is “new world order”. Also known as the “One World Government”. To help ensure this, they throw Romney as the competitor. There is not “left or right” here, no actual vote, this is all a big stage. Phases of the master plan I see as:
#1: They need to dummy down the US population so we are simply blind sheep following the master. This is being carried out through big pharmaceutical and vaccination. Do the research, I have and with an open mind. Fluoride in the water among other brain damaging attentive. Read the warnings on a fluoridated toothpaste. You don’t see these warnings on fluoride free toothpaste. Same stuff they call poison in toothpaste they put in the drinking water. Other areas are GMO seeds. Every time we eat something that contains corn, soy, cotton seed among many other inert ingredients we are consuming either or both pesticides and/or herbicides. All to slowly kill brain and other cells.
#2: They also need to reduce the population. Also being achieved through food and drugs. Scary? sure is, do some research on the Georgia Guide Stone.
#3: They must create crisis situation so the people will unite. Makes people a whole lot easier to control when you get them on a common ground. People will also have more acceptance and want for policing type control. They will welcome giving up freedoms and privacy for this perceived protection. We are being victims of extortion and don’t even realize.
#4: They must bankrupt the world in order to implement a single one world currency. Don’t be fooled by the mainstream media. People, we are at a point of no return now.
We would all like to feel secure and think the government is looking out for our best interest and I so wish I was wrong about all this, but unfortunately, I have never been one to hold a belief solely on somebodies “say so”. I keep an open mind of all possibilities and when I start connecting the dots, the picture isn’t a pretty one.
Those who know me personally know when I get a focus for fact in my head, I tend to become obsessed with learning anything and everything I can on any given topic. The direction of this world is something that caught my eye many many years ago."

Hasn't Obama already said that, while he supports marriage equality, he respects each state's decision to decide on gay marriage instead of the federal government ruling on it for all 50?
Pretty sure he said that when he voiced his support earlier this year.

No, it's not. If you click on the ABC and MTV articles cited, they're from the MTV interview he gave a week before the election, in which he said that he was against DOMA, and he fully expected it to be overturned by the cases that were working their way through to the Supreme Court:
"I'm going to keep on pushing as hard as I can, but what's really going to change this is the fact that young people, their attitudes ... are going to reflect the future instead of the past."

inching forward is better than leaping backwards.
also, we should be proud to live in a country where organized religion can make the leader of the free world lie about his beliefs. it's extremely flattering.
