Good Summer Camps for Musical Theater.

I know there are many threads about this, so i apoligize.

I live in Chicago and am looking for a good summer camp for musical theater for high schoolers for Summer '08

Interlochen, The Summer Arts camp through Northwestern University

Just take a look at their amazing facilities! If you want a true,intensive,"college-type" experience then OCU is the place to go! It is by audition only and they hold two MT sessions and one Vocal Arts/Opera session,but they fill up quickly. My D is going to the Vocal Arts/Opera and then the second MT session, so I'll be able to tell you more later in the summer.

yeah, i'm pretty sure. it's on their website...i'm hoping this is the more recent because the only way i'm going is if they think i'm talented enough. Here's what's written with the link to the site at the bottem:

Drama Fees & Requirements
There will be no tuition, housing or dining fees for students attending the School of Drama Pre-College Program. Students will, however, be responsible for books, supplies, transportation and recreational expenses. The average cost of these expenses is around $600.

Drama applicants must be at least 16 years old (born between August 10, 1988 and June 30, 1001) and have completed their junior year of high school by the start of the program.

Students are highly encouraged to live on campus. The School of Drama will not make special class arrangements for commuters.

I looked at their brochure and they do charge quite a bit for tutition ( it used to be free), so appearantly they are only giving the free ride to those they consider to be helping the "diversity" quota. If you can get in under those qualifications, go for it- it's just the middle class of all ethnicities that get left out unless they can shell out.

what about applying?
I didnt exactly look at the sites in detail, but I know that you usually have to send in tapes of your audition.
I want to go summer '08, so I was just kinda curious about future planning.

Show choir Camps of America with Dwight Joran and Susan Moninger. Even though it's labeled as "show choir" the training for MT is top notch. They bring in awesome vocal clinicans and all the top choreographers in the nation. It really helps you with your dancing!! There's vocal workshops, dance workshops ranging from tap to hip-hop. And they bring in a Broadway star each year to perform for us and to answer questions of ours. Last summer they brought in Hugh Panaro and he was incredible! They also bring in Phil Reno every year as well. There's also many surprise guests and such. It's a blast you learn a lot. Plus you have to learn 4 difficult dances within 5 days. So it prepares you very well!
