"You'd never know by watching the cast and crew of USA's whodunit Monk that its days are sadly numbered.
After eight seasons, the obsessive-compulsive detective, his ministering assistant, and pals at the precinct are heading off into the sunset after Dec. 4."

Well, tonight's the night. The first part of the series finale of Monk. I'm really going to miss this show, I started watching it a few seasons in (once the character of Natalie joined) and I wished I would have watched it from season one.
Goodbye Monk, I'm gonna miss you...
also, for those unaware, between this weeks episode and next week's episode, there's going to be a marathon with all the episodes where there is a clue to trudy's death. i think the first one is "mr. monk and dale the whale"
I still can't believe that the show is coming to an end It has been my favorite show for years, and now I am just unsure what to replace it with. Perhaps I can take up watching yet another reality show that resembles have of the other reality shows already out there? Ugh.

SPOILERS
So, who thinks Monk is gonna solve the case then actually die?
Oy! Unbelievable, all this time all he had to do was open the present..

...someone spoil the ending for me. I don't watch the show often, but I do with my boyfriend, and I'm mildly curious but not curious enough to piece together the whole story arc. Who killed his wife / what happened in the end?
The ending won't happen until next week.
Does anyone think the killer might be the Judge? The voice on the phone sounded a lot like Craig T. Nelson to me.

Yes, I agree... it is probably the judge !!!!!!!!! Trudy probably found out he was doing something shady ... hence her death ..... there ya have it !
well, we already know that the guy with 6 fingers killed her. the question is who hired him to kill her?
I checked out the USA forums last night just to see what they were saying and the feeling is that the Judge is involved but there's someone higher than him pulling the strings.

The judge is the one who said he got her killed, they showed him... in shadow, at least I thought it was him.
I've been watching this show since day one, and don't want to say goodbye yet (even as I watch my own marathon of all the dvds)---I understand the economic realities of making the show, but will really miss this part of my week!
They better not kill off Monk, I want him to come back for a one-off movie (or three).

I really don't think the show is going because of economic problems, I think Tony Shaloub is just done... hence why they would kill the character off and not just the series.
I'm pretty sure Monk is going to die. I assumed that's what Trudy meant when she said "it won't be long now" (paraphrasing) near the beginning of the episode.
I thought the "It won't be long now" was referring to how he would solve her murder soon, but we will see.
I've been watching this show since I was 8, and I'm really going to miss it! Friday nights at home will never be the same again!
I also thought it sounded just like Craig T. Nelson, but I also had a weird feeling that it might have been Captain Stottlemeyer himself. His voice is quite similar to Craig T. Nelson's voice and they're the same type. Would be an interesting and sad twist.
The beginning of the end
That was perfect.

So, I guess they might re-start the series at some point after all... great episode.
Is Molly gonna be dead? They just got a call...

Oy! I'm so happy Molly (or Mollie) didn't die, I had a bad feeling...
I got emotional during the ending montage; I'm really gonna miss this show.
the small nod to the past and reference to the first episode was a beautiful way to end the series.
i loved that trudy's daughter is named molly. my cat's name is monk and i used to have a dog named molly.
That was beautiful! Perfect in every way. It wrapped up everything perfect, but still left room for a special or two. But no matter how perfect, I'm really going to miss this show! The 7 years I've had with the show were not enough!
I cried when Monk hugged Molly. And I loved how he wasn't wearing his "suit" when he showed up at the last crime scene.
I'm going to watch the episode again when it's on at midnight. Then I'll really feel like it's over. (Until the movie. )
i noticed that too about the suit. our cat, monk, is a grey and white tuxedo cat. monk's signature suit is how monk the cat's original owner named him!
