One of my favourite marvel movies, a whole lot of fun. As with all of them stay till the end! The whole theatre waited and no one knew who it was at the end, and I had no idea he/it was from a marvel comic!
An absolute delight from start to finish, and this is coming from someone who's not a sci-fi fan. Definitely my favorite Marvel film, probably more enjoyable for me than THE AVENGERS. The tone is so refreshing, it's actually a really funny movie and just a lot of fun. Chris Pratt (looking insanely hot even with the lost weight) makes the movie, it's a starmaking performance, he just made me believe in the character from the second he shows up and he sells the action and comedy, while still making the character three-dimensional. Bradley Cooper's voice performance is fantastic and Vin Diesel also steals the show even though he only has the same line in the whole movie. Saldana, whom I generally dislike, is having fun and has great chemistry with the cast. In fact, the whole ensemble (and quite an eclectic one it is) has so much chemistry. Saw it last night and still giddy over how fun it was. Finally a good summer blockbuster for the year.
I'll cook some s'mores over this campfire too.
Loved it from start to finish for reasons listed above.

This may be something worth checking out. At first I just wanted to see it, for the purpose of seeing the ITW trailer on the big screen (which I heard looked 10x better). But, I think I will see it for the movie as well.
There was no Into the Woods trailer attached to the screening I saw.
Saw it this morning and in 3D IMAX and LOVED it! I too felt like it was the best Marvel film to date. The five leads were well cast, with Bradley Cooper doing excellent voice work and the animators doing top notch stuff with Groot. (I LOVED Groot!)
Can't wait for the next one to come out. It sort of reminded me of a double TNG episode- this motley crew going on an adventure all over the galaxy to save a peaceful planet.
(They did show the Into the Woods trailer beforehand and horrible! Not a single note of singing! It felt like they were obscuring the fact that it was a musical. The trailer for the new Christopher Nolan movie, on the other hand, was fascinating. Perhaps that movie will be a confused mess, but it definitely has my attention.)
POST-CREDIT SCENE SPOILERS BELOW!!!!
Does this mean we'll be seeing more Howard the Duck?
No one in the theatre I saw the movie with knew who it was at the end, as per the spoiler above.
SPOILERS
Many people know or at least know of the notoriously disastrous George Lucas-produced Howard the Duck adaptation with Lea Thompson. But much like having Lloyd Kaufman cameo, I think James Gunn is acknowledging the Marvel B-side comics, hence why citing Steven Gerber, the creator of the comic at the end. Also there was Cosmo the dog- who in the comics talks- who was hanging out with Collector at the end too. I doubt a movie is getting made but I like how enfant terrible Gunn went in making this his Marvel Universe post-script than some set-up for the next film. It certainly makes the film seem more stand-alone than other Marvel. But if you've seen Gunn's previous films, it would not surprise anyone if it turns out he was an avid Howard the Duck reader.
ross(cau), Howard the Duck- completely divorcing from the film adaptation- was actually a pretty fun satire comic title. Not sure if it made it to your country but considering how B-side Guardians of the Galaxy was, I think if there are associations with Howard the Duck it would be the flop film than the comics.

You say "with Lea Thompson". I say "with the voice of Chip Zien."
Bringing my son this week. We are both excited!
As a huge fan of the comics run on which this movie was based, I absolutely loved it.

The movie was awesome! That's all I have to say. Christ Pratt is the man. I've been a fan of his for many years now due to 'Parks & Recreation' and he deserves every bit of success. Bradley Cooper also gave one of the best voice-acting debuts I have ever seen. I plan on seeing it again this week.
I thought it was great. Much better than The Avengers.
Best movie of the summer! I knew that I would probably like it. I did not expect to love it as much as I did. So much action and laughter as well some heartwarming, sweet moments. I could definitely sit through this one a couple of more times.

Except TNG were never nearly, remotely as much fun. (Or motley
).
Not true! TV doesn't get any more fun than Deanna Troi, and mix her in with Data, Worf, Jordi, Picard and Riker and you have a decently motley bunch.
I'LL HAVE YOU EJECTED INTO SPACE!!!
Just got back from seeing this with my 13 yo son. He loved it, and I liked it a lot. I'm NOT a superhero/Marvel fan, so saying that is a big deal.
I have to admit, I thought it would be funnier. (The soundtrack, however, is pretty awesome.)
Stephanie Zacharek gave it a mediocre review (and kind of confirmed what I personally gleaned from the trailer), which is unremarkable.
What is remarkable is the complete nerd opera happening in the comments section

I went back to see it yesterday but this time in 3D. The special effects looked amazing during this showing, but at the beginning of the film some idiotic couple forgot to turn off their phones. They eventually left.
Funny, smart, and really entertaining; I think that this movie is the best summer film of 2014 and I hope more people keep seeing this instead of the awful looking NINJA TURTLES movie which I hope bombs.
