Walked past the location the other day (around the corner from me - yay). While I usually don't like any chain restaurant, this may be my new hangout, if it's decent. But of course, it will eventually will hoarded by tourists....Gyu kaku - West 44th ST. It looks like a fairly lg. space, from the outside.

Have any of you NYers been to the other manhattan locs?

This may not be your favorite hangout when you see the prices. One of their locations is having a "Valentine's Day Special" which is dinner for two @$75.00 a couple.

To me, that's a restaurant you go to for a treat, not for a nightly meal.

Is it open yet??

Anyway, Hell's Kitchen/Theatre District sucks now. As far as I'm concerned, w/o Barrymores, McHales, the (old) Film Center Cafe, Curtain Up, there ARE no real theater hangouts anymore. Gyu kaku - West 44th ST.

I doubt that. However the use of the word "special" makes me think there's some sort of reduced rate. If that's their reduced rate, their regular menu is probably a bit more. Don't you agree?

I've passed by their EV location a few times- if I remember correctly, the lunch prices weren't so bad.

Does one tip oneself when one cooks and serves their own meal?

Good question, Tiny.

I'm looking forward to taking my granddaughter there. She loves to cook and this might be a good interactive experience for a 6 yr old.

Maybe it'll be open when we see GODSPELL.

$37.50 for dinner in Manhattan is a pretty good deal.

I was thinking the same thing Jane -- especially on an 'event' date.

Here 'special' means not the norm -- but they aren't referring to the price, but the meal.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Hopefully Tiny will be able to keep us posted as to when it opens.
