I got a SAMSUNG 42" for a fantastic price about 3 wks before Thanksgiving. LOVE it!! Did a lot of research and glad I bought this. (Great advice here about the HDMI cables - luckily someone told me about this and I also saved a lot of $$).

When I got my first HDTV I was young(ish) and stupid and totally overpaid for an HDMI cable.
I FINALLY joined the 21st century and bought an LG LV5500 42" LED about a month ago. I got a great price for it through Amazon, and it was fulfilled (two days later) by a store in New Jersey. (The Amazon price was lower than the price on the store's own website.
It's a "Smart TV"--and good-looking too! I sort of have a crush on it).
It has 4 HDMI inputs and RGB/R232/component/composite connections--and this is my favorite: it has 2 USB inputs, so I can copy movies and videos from my laptop onto a flash drive and just pop it into one of the USB slots.
It can play all formats of video files except for FLV, but I can hook up my laptop to it and play those. I even hooked up my old laserdisc player to it!
I signed up for Netflix On Demand (which still seems pretty miraculous to me), and we now watch science and nature programs a lot, just because the photography looks so awesome.
The first thing we watched was the HD version of the Downton Abbey Christmas show and it was gorgeous. The next thing I put on was The Wizard of Oz. We're thinking of finally getting a Blue Ray player.

J'adore your tangy combo of butch tech talk and gayest possible viewing choices!
After the Wizard of Oz, I put on some old Ethel Merman videos and then the newly remastered version of LA Tool and Die.

If only such a thing existed! That'd be the gayest dream come true for me.

Ah but it's a joyful pain, like childbirth! That's such a great concept, Phyl.
Coming Soon to BluBalls-Ray!
^^ LOVE!!!

My heart skipped a beat.
I have a Samsung 46inch LCD and I love it. I also got a Samsung blu-ray player and it is exceptional.
