Yeah papa!
That trip down memory lane brought great happiness to my heart. To see some of the active posters both now and then... to see Sheekala before the strange disappearance... Those were the days, I was a month or two too late.
As for your sentiments... I wholeheartedly agree. I have taken a lesson from you, AGAIN.

Maybe it's me ... I just don't get involved in all these controversial topics. To me they are a waste of my time and energy. For what? To have "my say" on a hot issue in front of a bunch of people I barely know?.. What good is that to anyone but me?
Other than one boring, personal "unsavory pest" I wouldn't know who's who, who's new, who's not, who's a snot and really.. who cares? It's a message board.
I'd rather exchange a joke or two, catch up a a bit of theater news and be on my way.

Westopher has plenty of spine. He's just lacking in certain other anatomical areas.

PB - while I certainly understand your position - and, of course, fully respect your right and priveledge to have it - I have a different experience here.
While you are right that many posters are simply nameless and faceless voices in the dark, over time I have come to know enough about some of them to put their opinions into perspective. And those views have been educational and cathartic, at times. A good example is hearing from Plum and BwayLover about the Arafat situation - both perspectives that I'm interested in, but wouldn't have myself.

YAY for the respect-worthy republicans on this board.
David walked into the valley
With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail

Plum - that has actually crossed my mind, as well.

Thanks DGrant...I don't mean that some here are not decent, caring people. I'm sure many are. I've even met a few.
But, I've come to realize this can be like walking in a mine field. You gotta wear your armour well and sift through the "good, the bad and the ugly. I dodge "high maintance people".
I'm just not as open as others about sharing thoughts with those I don't really know. Too many people get po'd.

I had the pleasure of exchanging words with LadyG just today.
I missed her and dropped her a line. The lovely LadyG will be back.

I love you papa.

Well, papa got a love-thread by his own doing. Although, of course, that's the best way for a person to get one

That's because if W were more like Papa and a whole lot less like these buttmunch newbies Westo/TRUEBW and lingering non-faves RodneyEric and the Princess, the whole damn world would be a better place.

Great message, Papa. Well said.
This is precisely why I stayed off the boards for the first two days after the election. I was...well, not in a particularly good mood and I knew I would probably end up saying things I regretted, so I stepped back for a while. I may be a Democrat, but I'll leave the s**t-stirring to others, thanks.
And speaking of LadyG, where *is* she? I miss her. I hope she's okay.
