Have you ever had a crush on a character in a movie, but not exactly the actor or actress who portrayed them?
I was just watching Lord of the Rings last night and I almost forgot how good Orlando Bloom looks in the movie! He is soo cute as Legolas. I had a good obsession over Legolas for some time. I think Orlando Bloom is cute too, but just not when he shaves his head into a mohawk.

I had fantasies about Quasimodo in the animated Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Actually, I also had a BIG thing for Demitri in the animated Anistasia. But that doesn't count, cause I have a huge crush on John Cusack too.

Robin
I<3bway, I too prefer Orlando as Lagolas. Never seen the movie, but based on stills and trailers. Out of character I don't find him as hot.
I like Orlie as Will Turner more
I think James Van Der Beek is an a-hole, but I had the BIGGEST crush on Dawson.
I'm going to break the rules here for a second.
I don't have a crush on Dr. Venture from The Venture Bros., but I do have a thing for James Urbaniak!
His music sucks, he looks like Madame Morrible and, having met him, I can assert that he is a Grade-A Douche in real life.
But oh, Jordan Catalano. Sweet, sweet Jordan Catalano. I just like how he's always leaning against stuff. He leans great.

There have been a couple. Arguably, my first loves were JohnBoy Walton and Luke Skywalker. Mind you, I actually do like the two actors who played them, but it was the characters who captured my heart. And later on, I would have moved to Alaska to spend the rest of my life with Chris from Northern Exposure.
Yes, I have a 'thing' for the 'good boys'. And those who have met my husband know that I came just about as close as I could to JohnBoy

Since we're on BroadwayWorld my mind bypassed the many movie and TV examples and thought of Will Swenson in Hair. Hot as Berger, kind of ooky out of character.
There are dozens, and I can't think of any of them. Disturbingly, Christian Bale in American Psycho keeps popping into my head. I almost never enjoy him (looks or acting, to be honest) but I enjoyed the hell out of him in that.
As far as warm and fuzzy character crushes go...they usually carry over to the actor/actress for me. I have like a thousand celebrity crushes. I'm a celebrity crush slut. It's not uncommon for me to have a crush on every single person on the TV shows I love.
The character Henry from N2N. As gorgeous/sweet as Adam Chanler-Berat is, I find myself more in love with Henry. I wish I had a boyfriend like him! Haha...
Oh yes, most defintiely. I've always thought the actor was hot but it is the character they played that did it for me. My #1 - Sam Seaborn from The West Wing, then Derek Sheppard from Greys Anatomy (early seasons), Dawson was like my perfect guy when I was younger (and in that one I didnt find JVdB that attractive, so it was all character). I'm sure there are many others.
Sadly, Zac Efron playing Link in Hairspray. I dislike everything else he has done, and him in general.
I'm with Craww. If I get a crush on a character, the warm fuzziness carries over to the actor. Which gets a bit silly when a crush on a character in one show ends up being a crush on a character in another show played by the same actor, even when this new character is kinda lame, just because of the warm fuzzies for the original character.
Although that said, I've been thinking about this, and I do have an answer.
My mother and I both enjoy watching House, and have spent the last few years perplexedly wondering when exactly Hugh Laurie got sexy. Then last Christmas, we watched a documentary on Blackadder, which had a brief interview with Hugh Laurie; he was in full House garb, but he was talking in his normal Hugh Laurie voice. And that's when we realised - Hugh Laurie never got sexy. But he plays a sexy freakin' man on TV.
I actually get this a lot with filmed adaptations of books; I've never seen a filmed version of The Lost World (Conan Doyle) I liked, but that doesn't mean I don't still want to marry Lord John Roxton. Matt Smith I can take or leave, but my heart forever belongs to Jim Taylor from the Sally Lockhart quartet. Never cared one whit for Al Pacino, but Michael Corleone affects me.
Also with MotorTink on Sam Seaborn. Never really paid any attention to Rob Lowe, but in my post-West Wing haze... well, I think my thoughts on Sam have been well-documented elsewhere on the internet. Let's just summarise it by saying I'm <-> close to pasting a picture of Sam in my dictionary next to "handsome", and I was absolutely shouting for joy when he turned up in season 7. XD
I've had crushes on most of Jason Bateman's (adult) characters, but Bateman himself does nothing for me. Maybe it's the weird phlegmy real-life voice.
I'm the opposite.
Love Robert Gant and Randy Harrison, never cared for Ben or Justin on Queer as Folk.
Love Brian Krause, but can't stand Leo on Charmed.
