I'm with Craww. If I get a crush on a character, the warm fuzziness carries over to the actor. Which gets a bit silly when a crush on a character in one show ends up being a crush on a character in another show played by the same actor, even when this new character is kinda lame, just because of the warm fuzzies for the original character.
Although that said, I've been thinking about this, and I do have an answer.

My mother and I both enjoy watching
House, and have spent the last few years perplexedly wondering when exactly Hugh Laurie got sexy. Then last Christmas, we watched a documentary on
Blackadder, which had a brief interview with Hugh Laurie; he was in full House garb, but he was talking in his normal Hugh Laurie voice. And that's when we realised - Hugh Laurie never got sexy. But he plays a sexy freakin' man on TV.
I actually get this a lot with filmed adaptations of books; I've never seen a filmed version of
The Lost World (Conan Doyle) I liked, but that doesn't mean I don't still want to marry Lord John Roxton. Matt Smith I can take or leave, but my heart forever belongs to Jim Taylor from the Sally Lockhart quartet. Never cared one whit for Al Pacino, but Michael Corleone affects me.
Also with MotorTink on Sam Seaborn. Never really paid any attention to Rob Lowe, but in my post-
West Wing haze... well, I think my thoughts on Sam have been well-documented elsewhere on the internet. Let's just summarise it by saying I'm <-> close to pasting a picture of Sam in my dictionary next to "handsome", and I was absolutely shouting for joy when he turned up in season 7. XD
