I like boycotts. Any form of protest that revolves around me not having to do anything is A-OK.

Is it really a boycott if I wasn't planning on seeing it anyway? I actually don't mind John T, but his expression does not change from one promo shot to the next.

And here I thought we actually had to watch something before we passed judgment on it! This is going to save me A LOT of time!

Can I still watch it as an inflight movie? That's how I see most films nowadays, anyway.

I'm still using the same headset I bought to watch "Elf" two or three years ago, so it's not like I'd be giving any more money to that dirty Scienceamatology thing.

Well of course I've heard of Focus Groups, in fact I've participated in them. Why do you ask?

I did one!

They had me look at photos of impulse lines from grocery stores, and then I had to list all the products I remembered seeing.

Another time, the company sent me a video of a sitcom pilot -- something awful called "Dads" co-starring Rue McClanahan as a nanny with a German accent -- and wanted me to write out my opinion of the show. When they called to ask me my opinion, they spent the entire time asking me about the Shaquille O'Neill Nestle's Crunch commercial that was stuck in the middle of the show.

Yes Calvin-- it's because the focus group was REALLY about that commercial. If they told you "watch this commercial and tell us what you think" you'd look at it far too closely than you normally do. So they SAY it's a new Sitcom and make you watch the whole thing. They really just want to talk about the ads.

And why do they ask you about the sitcom at all? Because they KNOW it's a crummy piece of pooh and they discard the opinions of anyone who liked that stinky thing.

Well, I really realized that a few years later, when my mother was contacted by the same people and got the exact same sitcom -- only with a different commercial.

But, I didn't realize my opinion of the sitcom was a test as well. Good to know my taste is intact.

So anyway Taz-- why do you (or will you) hate the Hairspray movie?

I'm in DayDreamer's camp. I had absolutely no intention of seeing this film, so is that's not really a boycott. But, you can count me in, anyway.
