meanwhile, let's review how your religion behaved before it was defanged by secularism. john calvin is one of the leading theologians for protestantism. what else was he known for? oh yes, burning michael servetus at the stake. what was that all about? servetus was probably some serial rapist or murderer. or maybe he took it up the ass from another dude. no wait. he was a christian--because this is the other great thing about christians, see how they love each other so much--who thought the teachings of the trinity confused jews and muslims. he and calvin quarreled, forcing the former into hiding until the latter got him into custody. servetus begged for his life. calvin coldly said he should try to seek forgiveness from god. they tied a book of his teachings to servetus while they lit him up. he was heard to pray, "have pity on me jesus thou son of the eternal god." one of the "loving" priests who was present remarked that if he had moved the adjective, "have pity on me jesus thou eternal son of god," he might have been saved. a perfect example of persecution and murder over a nonsensical point, and a bloody example that islam has plagiarized to grisly effect.

your posts reinforce why it is futile to try to play nice with religion. your words drip with the idea that gays should be grateful that "loving" christians like yourself "tolerate" us more than islam does, while completely failing to see that this is the same "tolerance" that islam foists on other "peoples of the book" in the countries where they run the show. the hypocrisy is stunning, but not surprising. if christians "tolerate" gays now, it is only because it has been forced to by humanism and secularism or face embarrassment worldwide.

why? you haven't answered the point about how jesus said he came not to bring peace, after you claimed he was peace loving. neither have you answered the point that jesus introduced the evil idea of hell into monotheism, which islam plagiarized and which has literally given millions of children nightmares. and you repeatedly dodge the point that, in fact, christianity did do those things, as john calvin did, but it has long been defanged by secularism in the west. in rwanda, all the catholic priests and nuns are standing trial for inciting genocide.

So you are arguing that the quote proves that Jesus was NOT a peace-loving man? SERIOUSLY???? Jesus was speaking in that quote about the division in families that his followers were experiencing. In his day he was a very controversial figure (obviously) and those who followed him were often ostracized by their families. Look at the whole quote in context and you will see what he meant.

Almost all religions have some version of hell. Hell is not evil, it is a place for evil people so it is actually a good thing.

But you DEFLECT repeatedly from the point. Are you going to argue that Jesus was not a peaceful man and Muhammad was?? I like for you to make that argument.

So, here in LA, many of us have a dream of eventually having the Purple Line (hey-ohh!) subway extend all the way to the beach. The proposed extension plans call for the line to run directly under Beverly Hills High School. The entitled NIMBYs in Beverly Hills have been desperately trying to throw every proverbial wrench into this one since it was announced. Now, they've got a new excuse: they're claiming that having a subway line run through Beverly Hills will jeopardize the community because ISIS might set off a bomb there. Forget that it will be DECADES before this line extension would be completed. This is an imminent threat that must be dealt with. Won't someone think of the entitled, wealthy children??

lol! what deflecting? hell is a place for evil people so that makes it good? go read the accounts written by the little catholic girl who was upset that her sweet uncle was going there because he was not catholic, which has been the teachings of the western orthodox for centuries! if that's not contemporary enough for you, i've met a catholic in my office, a grown man, who broke into tears because he thinks it's true that he's going to burn in eternity forever because he's had relations with another man.
