Now that NBC has cancelled Hannibal, do any of you think that Raul may return to Broadway? I think he's an amazing actor, he's wasted on SVU, and I'm sure that that show won't last more than another season or two. I'd love to see him in a play again. Is Broadway still interested, or has that ship sailed?

I agree Roxy. Last season's finale left me wondering where the creative team would take the series. This season's opener seemed like an entirely different series. I'm not in the mood for the introduction of a whole bunch of new characters and arcs. Still not a bad series, just not something I'm interested in watching at this point.

Right now it just seems to be some sort of a story with the highlight being the gruesome murders . Not enough to carry a series & maybe that is why people turned out this year.

Season two was a near masterpiece, with just the smallest of bumps along the way.
I've been loving season three so far; very gutsy to leave us on huge cliffhangers and then to focus the premiere solely on Hannibal and Bedelia. A move that was as risky as it proved to be brilliant. GA is turning in a superb performance, as are Mads and Dancy.
I didn't expect the show to last forever, but it's a great disappointment to read this news today. This and The Good Wife are my two favorite shows on network tv. Sad that this year will see the end of both.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hulu or Amazon pick this one up though, so I'll stay hopeful (and in denial) for a little while longer.

The last episode was my favorite episode of the series. Such good writing. Certainly not all over the place...
I can't wait for the rest of the season. According to the Hollywood Reporter, rights issues with the Clarice Starling character might have played a role in its cancellation (MGM owns "Silence" Characters).
If this goes anywhere (which there's a good chance it will), its going to Amazon. They have the exclusive streaming rights and were interested when cancellation rumors swirled at the end of season 1. According to their twitter, the DeLaurentiis Co. "are exploring their options for future seasons."
There is a lot more of the Hannibal story to tell. Hannibal's European adventures were always some of my favorites in the novels.

The Good Wife has been renewed for a seventh season, due to start October 4th. Apparently this may the final season, but that hasn't been confirmed.

The Kings, who helm The Good Wife, have stated from the start that the series would be seven seasons. It has all been mapped out- minus Will's fate- from the beginning.
Even the episode titles show the arc of the series: season one's titles are all one word, season two's two words, season three's three words, season four's four words, season five's back down to three, season six to two and season seven will wrap things up with one word titles again.

A lot of people who's taste I trust seem to really love him too. The episodes of SVU I've seen he's been all queeny eye rolls and smirk and sarcasm, stopping somewhere on the Men on Films continuum near, "Three snaps in a Z formation!". I know they're stingy with back stories of that show's characters, but is that the character or is that the amazing actor character choice?

It's not an issue of quality, though, this season has been met with as much acclaim as before. The viewership simply isn't enough to sustain it. Even at its peak, the numbers weren't encouraging.
I bet that Amazon or Netflix will pick it up, and it will continue.

If the The Good Wife wasn't such a critical success/awards winner it most certainly would have been canceled before the Kings' vision could be carried out. CBS, of all the networks, rarely will tolerate low ratings. Season six in particular had some dismal ratings, but being so close to the finish line CBS is going to let them end on their own terms.
Wanna Partner certainly set up a fun beginning to seven season!
Namo, have you seen Raul in Hannibal? I think it's some of the best work of career, and this is coming from a big fan of his stage work. (I haven't watched much recent SVU, so I can't comment on his performance there.)

The series is quickly approaching the Calarice Starling era. If they don't have the rights to that character. I can see why they would cancel the series. You cannot rewrite the cannon of Hannibal Lecter. They can end with a satisfying series finale with Hannibal being inncarcerated.

That's a great question. As far I know, they don't really delve into the characters background, so I'm not too sure. I totally get you on the "queeny eye rolls." I enjoy him in Hannibal far more than in SVU.

They are rewriting it this entire season. And according to Fuller, the Starling years would not begin until Season 5.

Perhaps, I should read the books because I find the current season's episodes confusing. The series now requires too much thought on the part of the viewer and it arguably glorifies gruesome violence. The writers have gotten much mileage out of the Last Supper leitmotif almost the point of excess. As fond as I am of Hannibal and Bedelia as a couple, I can only take them in measured doses. She was more intriguing during the sessions with Hannibal as his psychiatrist. There's too much Hannibal committing gruesome acts too often to sustain my interest.
