Brilliant actress - at times, I think, ahead of her time.  I don't think any other actress at the time could have given that performance in The Heiress.  Loved Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte, her gothic campfest with Bette Davis, too.  Did anyone see the film in which she played twins - one of them a killer, the other covering up for her sister?  Would love to catch that one.

She was from the era of the most glamorous beauties in Hollywood.  Her angelic face stood out as my favorite of all of them.

Yes, very much do. I loved her performance in Light in the Piazza. I so wish that dreary musicalization hadn't ruined that lovely film.

Happy Birthday. Born on the day the Battle of the Somme started. She'll be celebrating the milestone with drinks and dinner with friends, she tells People.

I haven't seen that evil twin movie, but thanks for mentioning it - the whole thing is up on YouTube for our viewing pleasure so I think I'll be rectifying that soon.
