Can anyone explain why there are bumper stickers that show Calvin peeing on various automotive logos?

Joe, Bill Watterson is notoriously protective of Calvin & Hobbes. Those peeing Calvin decals, along with the one with Calvin praying to a cross, all are phonies.

I know. The same reason Watterson would never OK Calvin Peeing on a Ford is why I wonder why gearheads want a bumper sticker that shows that. I can see Bart Simpson maybe, if you think your car is somehow inherently superior to a Ford, but Calvin would care less about that and how do they even know who Calvin is?

The strip was pretty popular in its day, and of course many just read the strip and saw what they wanted to see. Many people have no idea that 99% of Calvin & Hobbes merchandise was often unlicensed/pirated material. Gearheads just see Calvin, who they just take on the surface as a mischevious kid/rebel, helping them ridicule whatever brand it is they don't like.

Calvin And Hobbes is the greatest comic strip. Ever. Thank God for Bill Watterson.

I'd kind of forgotten about it, but I saw "The Indispensable Calvin and Hobbes" collection at a friend's beach house this summer. I read it by the pool the whole afternoon, then came home and promptly ordered my own copy.

I hear lots of giggling from guests in the bathroom now, where I keep my copy.

I bought the big three volume hardcover Complete Calvin And Hobbes.

Calvin & Hobbes makes life worth living.
