Cary Grant was born on January 18, 1904. Time for a movie marathon!

Cary is my FAVE male movie star!
Best Films: NORTH BY NORTHWEST and THE AWFUL TRUTH
Looks Hottest in: BRINGING UP BABY
Makes Me Cry: PENNY SERENADE
Sentimental fave: FATHER GOOSE
Underrated Performance: NOTORIOUS
People often criticize Cary for "always being the same" but if you watch and listen, he is able to transform his screen persona into almost every conceivable type of character in every film genre.

And let's not forget his off-again, on-again roommate, Randolph Scott, with whom he would cohabitate in between wives.
Yum...

Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Eva
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia

And we can't forget when:
"....Grant decided to sue Chevy Chase for allegedly outing hint on a late-night talk show."
Carry on, Cary Grant

Now you listen to me, I'm an advertising man, not a red herring. I've got a job, a secretary, a mother, two ex-wives and several bartenders that depend upon me, and I don't intend to disappoint them all by getting myself "slightly" killed.
I love NORTH BY NORTHWEST.
Who am I kidding? I love them all... even the radio version of THEODORA GOES WILD I heard yesterday where Cary Grant filled in as the male lead.

Posted: 1/18/07 at 1:55pmI've read that he thought MR LUCKY and NONE BUT THE...were the films that most reflected his true personality--and two I have not seen...

Saw that one not too long ago; the video store owner (Allen's Alley) said it had three of the most unique voices ever in Hollywood--Grant, Arthur and Colman.
I have to agree: Curtis did Grant in SLIH and Dennis Morgan did Colman in KITTY FOYLE

Damn, MR LUCKY was just on at noon today. That's what I get for listening to music today instead of checking the TCM listings first.
NONE BUT THE LONELY HEART is listed for 2/13 at 6:15 AM if you Tivo (or get up early).
Oh and happy birthday to your dad, Garland Grrrl.

You have plenty of time to land a sugar daddy before it airs. What's a better pickup line than "I have to see an obscure Cary Grant film about a sick English woman and her neglectful son - wanna help me?"

"None but the Lonely Heart" is well worth searching for and seeing, lildogs. He and Ethel Barrymore playing off each other is quite memorable, as well as the darkness of the content and cinematography! Just a beautiful little film. His accent and characteristics were so well done, you did actually feel you were watching a side of Cary that Hollywood didn't want you to see.

I watched a bunch of his films today. Great actor, and I have such a soft spot for "An Affair To Remember" (:
