hey I grew up listening to Madonna's music too
My first tape that I bought was "Like A Virgin " from my Christmas money ... I was soo happy
I think I would be a different person, if I had not admire Miss Madge !!!
Erotica Album - College days/ coming out days (my first CD )- and I think this was her best CD ever !!! I love "Deeper & Deeper " the first song they played on my first gay bar experience .....
and lastly when I first bought my iPod in 2003- the first set of songs Ive downloaded was Madonna's American Life CD
I'm just a diehard fan of Madonna

I really enjoyed the Confessions Tour last year.
She seemed to be enjoying herself as never before (likewise for the recent LiveEarth Concert).

I was in fifth grade band class and one of the students in my class kept asking the teacher if he would teach us how to play like a virgin. At this point I was unaware of the song (or even Madonna) and found it really odd that someone would make that sort of request to their teacher - and in the fifth grade!
I quickly discovered Madonna and became a huge fan. I've her to be a little too preachy from Ray of Light on (and I still think The Next Best Thing is one of the most offensive pieces of tripe to have ever graced the silver screen) but Madonna was one of the biggest influences of my youth, and I'll always cherish (ha) that.
And the fact that Madonna is one year away from fifty makes me feel incredibly old.

Cheers to that great "coulda been" Broadway Star, Madonna!
While she never achieved the stardom of a Karen Ziemba or a Sally Mayes, I remember her fondly for her luminous performance in Mamet's "Speed the Plow".
Happy Birthday Madonna, where ever you are!

"Gambler" is the jam of jams.
When I saw her perform that on The Virgin Tour, I wanted to BE her.
Happy Birthday Esther!

I just heard that it's Kathie Lee's Birthday too..why hasn't anyone started a B-day thread for her?

Madonna's Bdays do make me feel a lil old! I was 8 when I got her first tape. My mom was so savvy--this was before Madonna became well known. I remember hearing "Lucky Star" for the first time on the radio on the way to Sunday school. lol
Happy Birthday!

But, my dear, you will see 40 before I do. And that's really all that matters.

Early buzz on some of the new tracks is that they are really hot.
Although, I too miss the days when she was chained to a sling in a gay sex club.
