Hating Hillary

Andrew Stephen of The New Statesman analyzes the phenomenon that has horrified and unified the millions of Hillary supporters who seemingly won't budge.
===
"History, I suspect, will look back on the past six months as an example of America going through one of its collectively deranged episodes - rather like Prohibition from 1920-33, or McCarthyism some 30 years later. This time it is gloating, unshackled sexism of the ugliest kind...."

I had forgotten all about Citizens United Not Timid. It's idiotic wordplay to be sure, but tee-hee, isn't it funny we spelled CUNT?
I love the very first comment in the comments section which quotes the articles "I am no particular fan of Clinton" and the follows it with "Oh I think you are," as though it's impossible to look at someone or something objectively without fawning all over one side or the other. It isn't enough to support Obmam - another less than complete and utter disgust and disdain for Clinton is tantamount to treason - or just simply racist.
The article makes a lot of good, salient points that many of us have been pointing out for quite a while now. I hate that it comes coming down to racism vs sexism and which is worse - by this point it's pretty much irrelevant, though, because the institutionalized sexism against Clinton has gone largely unchecked for way too long. Frankly, I'm surprised she managed to stay above water this long - it must be all those heartless machinations of hers that she's used to get to where she is. How dare she get in the way of Obama's golden stroll to the White House?
I just look at this comment - His colleague Tucker Carlson casually observed that Clinton "feels castrating, overbearing and scary . . . When she comes on television, I involuntarily cross my legs." and just wonder exactly what kind of country we live in. Could you imagine if some blowhard got on tv and said that every time Obama came on screen he felt an urge to make sure he knew where his wallet was?
The longer this goes on the harder it is for me to think about giving Obama my vote come November. My hands are tied, of course, because the thought of McCain getting in and setting the wheels in motion for the overturn of Roe v Wade is enough to make me vote blue, but Jesus, do I wish I had another alternative.

So what is it about Hillary? Franklin Roosevelt was hated so intensely by his critics they wouldn't even say his name. Truman was routinely booed in public and when attention was called to it, a pundit created the now well-known phrase "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." Nixon? Do I really need to give an example.
But I guess Hillary, in addition to her god-given right to be president, has a god given right to be loved and honored no matter what she does (or doesn't do). I feel bad for the little blossom. Let's all agree to never say anything bad about her again, OK?

That sums up my feeling exactly Phyl. And people get annoyed at the "hold your nose" idea, like it's a horrible thing not to love Obama.
That attitude only makes me dislike him more.
Still, the supreme court is enough to help me ignore the obamaniacs.

I think the point was not that hating Hillary was unacceptable, but that the blatant sexist remarks and double standards seem to not only be deemed acceptable, but are encouraged by both politicans and the media. I do think there is probably a lot of racism towards Obama, but it remains unsaid, because it is politically incorrect. Sexism, like homophobia, is still considered widely acceptable in this country.

But there are plenty of Obama haters who won't vote for him because he's black (See West Virginia). And honestly, I think the Iron my Shirt moron probably did more to promote Hillary than harm her.

It is not sexism to hate Good Ole Hilary. She's is not Women, she is A WOMAN, one evil bitch of a woman, but just A WOMAN. Just like hating Obama is not racism. He is not Black People, is A BLACK MAN.
Although if you're any Hilary extremist you think anyone who doesn't like her is a sexist, which means by your own logic anyone who doesn't like Obama is a racist, therefore you're a racist.

Yep. That's exactly the point the article was making.

Besides papa and Liverpool, what's so horrible about the posts?
The only thing that really bothers me is that people won't support Obama because of his supporters.
Huh?
Because that's not the objection to Hillary--not at all.
Time and again, we, the pundits, the candidates themselves acknowledge there's not any real policy difference between the two.
So if you support Hillary's positions, how can you not support his? Or vice versa?
Is the pleasure you'll feel when Obama loses worth wrecking the Supreme Court and continuing a war?
Cause I don't think punishing Hillary is worth that at all.

You keep saying that as if you think that I believe that or that the author of this article believes that.
You're either missing the point because you're obtuse or you think that by repeating that, you can make the legitimate topic of sexism go away.
I'll clarify, sweetheart: YOU'RE not a sexist. You're just an asshole.

I object to Obama for reasons more than his supporters - I don't think he says anything, I think he's been crowing about this "new kind of politics" that is indiscernible from "old politics," I think he gets away distortions and misrepresentations, etc. etc.
But really, how is being turned off by his supporters any different than being turned off because she's a calculating bitch?

Well, first, that was directed at taz.
Second, that's not why I don't support her.

Why do you assume the only reason I dislike Obama is b/c of his disciples? True, I find them a bit unbalanced, but like Phyllis, there are several other reasons that I'm not supporting him.
He seems disingenuous, untrustworthy, and is frighteningly inexperienced.
It baffles me how someone can not like Obama, and it's automatically perceived that the person is "just hung up on Hillary".
And how dare you suggest I would take pleasure in wrecking the Supreme Court.
Your tunnel vision surprises and saddens me.
