Growing up I LOVED Trading Spaces with Paige Davis. THAT would have been a fun show :)

They are very picky about What Not to Wear. One of my college roommates dressed like a 12-year-old, including when she had to go do professional work experience. She also didn't get the concept that wearing a plain shirt with jeans to a party was acceptable. I think a couple of friends tried to get her on, but it never came of anything.

That's actually not that surprising. There must be so many people nominated for the show, and I know they do makeovers in groups, almost. They film all of the befores in the area and then bring them to New York (probably also together). I bet if they have a general idea of where they want to go at different points in the season, they don't even consider people from outside those geographic areas.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

Not if you got stuck with Hildi Santo-Tomas doing your room. You'd be picking feathers out of your cereal bowl for years!

I always felt sorry for the couple that got corrugated cardboard glued all over their walls. If that had been me, I would have punched them all in the stomach and then ripped their hair out, one handful at a time, on camera!. I don't think there would have been a court in the land who would have charged me with anything.

What about the time she took that GORGEOUS bathroom and stapled silk flowers all over the wall? Or when she wallpapered the room with moss? Or when she sprayed the room down with glue and stuck hay to the walls. When the people doing the house said, "But they have small children..." she replied, "Well, they'll have to be told not to touch it!" batsh*t

Strummergirl--is that the family from Colonie that George Amedore helped with? If so, fellow upstater. And Amedore parlayed that into political office.

After the AI auditions, I can vouch for the fact that Ryan Seacrest is short...at least when standing next to Constantine Maroulis. A little scarier is the fact that Ryan is one of the few men I've seen with a definable waist...like hourglass...unless it was just the jacket he was wearing.

Yep, that's who I am referring to, jim. It just felt so incredibly cheesy that he uses his family's trademark on his political signs too, just so people know he's from **that** family. Dude's dumber than a bag of bricks, and I have numerous references to back me up on that, and despite how out there some of his politics are, his photogenic family and name-recognition thanks to that exposure (the seat he ran for was open just a few months later) he got on the show guarantee him some at least a decade in the Assembly since Speaker Silver has nothing to worry about with losing that seat.

EM:HE pisses me off. someone my friend knows got a home makeover... the little boy in the family has spinal muscular atrophy and uses a power chair... they built an elevator in the house that just barely fit the chair he was using at age 7. his current chair does not fit in the elevator.

Maisie, I used to LOOOVE Trading Spaces, too. But Hildi was just insane (though I loved this one nautical room she designed). That Doug guy made some pretty redonkulous rooms, too.. especially the one with the portrait of his hairy foot in the living room of the woman with a foot phobia...
