"Unfortunately for us, the operator of the ride joined in the chase."
What an idiot. "I got nothing better to do then join the 50 other people who don't stand a chance at catching him. Not Like I'm doing ANYTHING important"
And when I was on Zero Gravity, It just kept spinning when it was supposed to lift up. 5 mineutes later, the guy said "sorry, no ticket refunds" What an ass!
I went on when it opened back up (the first time) And I heard the clunk again, but it kept going!

Once when I was on the Pirates of the Caribbean, it broke down in three different spots in the ride, and it ended up being a 45 minute ride because of all the break-downs. To make it worse, I was on it with an annoying friend who is extremely chit-chatty, and so being stuck in a small confined space with him for that long wasn't very fun. We got to the very end of the ride after already being stuck twice, and the boat was going up that steep hill at the very end that brings you back up to the loading area, and OF COURSE, the boat stops moving. I looked behind our boat and they had started DRAINING the water from the ride, and then we had to wait for 15 minutes, and then wait even longer for them to REFILL the ride again. And all the while we were stuck on that hill, leaning back at an uncomfortable angle while my friend just taaaaalked and taaaaaalked and TAAAAALKED!
AND we missed the entire fireworks show because the ride took SO long.
Yeah, that was a pretty annoying experience.

When I was about 12, my sister and I got stuck on a ride called Chaos for about 10 minutes. It was the scariest thing ever. We were stuck at the very top of the ride facing down towards the ground. (So in the picture we were the equivalent like in the pink one at the top)... My mom was waiting for us down on the ground and was about ready to have a heart attack.

My friend and I got stuck on the Zipper ride at a carnival. Here we were fliping upside down - and suddenly the whole ride shifted and came to an abrupt halt!. There was this loud screeching sound and the next thing we knew the huge flourescent lights were shattering and falling to the ground. The workers had to manually rotate the ride around and down to the groud. We were freaked out but thought it was cool. Then the next week we read in the newspaper and saw on tv that the same ride malfunctioned again in the next city the carnival had traveled to, and a young girl was thrown to the ground and killed. That kind of haunted us.

I have gotten been stuck on the Small World ride at Disney NUMEROUS times. The WORST ride to get stuck on- seriously- that music kills me.
I recently got stuck on the Mexico ride at Epcot. Right at the end. They just redid the ride- its a Three Caballeros thing, with two of them searching Mexico for Donald. And at the very end, on repeat, its the three birds attempting to say goodbye and things like that in Spanish. On repeat. Donald Duck's obnoxious voice. It was terrible.
I have also been stuck on Spaceship Earth numerous times. Great fun. Lemme tell ya.
Oh- and Haunted Mansion. I think my favorite was when we stopped on the part that goes backwards/downhill- it was quite comfortable actually.
(If you couldn't tell- I grew up going to Disney often- I'm a Floridian through and through)

Posted: 5/18/08 at 11:53pmOh, they re-did Mexico. I LOVED El Rio de Tiempo. (Sad I can remember the name). Did they change Norway (Maelstrom)?

Norway is the same.
I used to be TERRIFIED of that ride- because of that little hole where you can see the boats from the street- and then you hear everyone scream because of the like...10 foot drop. I refused to go on it for so long when I was little.
Now it is one of my favorite rides in that park. The day they decide to change it might just be the day I refuse to return to Epcot. Seriously. Haha.

Pirates is pretty much the same. Johnny makes, I think, 3 appearances. And Barbosa shows up in the beginning, but otherwise it is the same.

Posted: 5/19/08 at 12:04amSTUNNING. I am not even a fan of the Pirates film and I swooned over the utterly lifelike animatronic they added of Captain Jack. There's I believe 3 of him in the ride and the movements are so natural that if I saw it on the street (and people believably dressed that way) I would honestly believe it to be real. There are some cool projection effects particularly in the beginning, some of the things have been rearranged. It was all for the better, that ride used to be pretty boring. Also in that large stretch of open sea is Captain Barbossa and the cannonball effects are definitely a lot more sophisticated. All in all, necessary and wonderful updates without losing the classic feel to it.

Like many others, I also was stuck near the top of a huge ferris wheel at the Ohio State Fair when I was about 5. I was with my Dad and had never been on one before. The wheel became stuck while they were still loading it so we never did take a normal turn in it. All I knew was that we were stuck about a zillion miles up in the air and couldn't get down. Even with dad's help, I was still terrified. I tried riding one about 10 years later and was absolutely terrified. It's the only ride I'm still unable to get near!
The Small World stories reminded me of my first visit to Disneyland. At that time the original in Anaheim was the only park and I think half the world was there the day we went. I had a bad accident with a glass sliding door just before leaving for California and the doctor had to put 46 stitches in my leg - just above the knee. This meant I couldn't bend my leg so he put it in a cast. The day we went to Disneyland, my folks very kindly got me a wheel chair and wheeled me around the park. I was able to ride everything EXCEPT the submarine. They wanted to go there, despite the long waiting line. SO, they 'parked' me right outside of Small World. I sat there, unable to move, for well over an hour. I felt like I had been brain washed by the end!
A click for life.

I got stuck on Small World at Anaheim once. Not fun, that damned song.
The Carousel of Progress at Orlando broke down while I was on it. We had to watch the same tableau 4 times before it was fixed. Is it even still there? I remember it was being renovated last time I was there.

I got stuck on Buzz Lightyear in Florida, but I used to get stuck on it when it was Dreamflight. I've been stuck on all those continuous track rides at Disney World at one time or another. Most often, it is stopped to assist people with disabilities in boarding and exiting the ride. Usually it's no biggie, but that Buzz Lightyear was especially annoying. I was stuck in that awful video tunnel (though I found the entire ride monotonous and overrated). The most disappointing was being stuck in Journey to Imagination (the original, not the hideous injustice that exists in its place now). It was one of the times that something malfunctioned and they had to turn on the lights. It spoils the effect much more than I expected.

I have lots of stuck on rides at WDW stories (I go quite often, so this happens fairly frequently)
I got stuck on Splash Mountain once on the outside part of the ride before the first drop. We sat for 15 minutes, occasionally hearing the voice of a cast member on the speaker telling us to remain seated, the ride would resume shortly. Eventually, we were told to remain seated and wait for a cast member to assist us in exiting the ride. Something had malfunctioned, and they needed to shut it down. They had to walk us through the inside of the ride to get out, and inside of the ride had turned on all of the lights. It sort of ruined the effect, but it was neat to walk out the service entrance. We were given a special fastpass, and the ride was up and running again within the hour.
I once got stuck in the heat room on Test Track, and we were horrified that that meant the heat would stay on, but when the ride stops, so do those effects, fortunately.
On Dinosaur once, there was a problem with the ride, while we were in the pre-show area. The doors would not open to let us onto the ride. Unfortunately, the pre-show video repeats itself continuously. We were stuck watching Phylicia Rashad reprimand a young scientist for about 20 minutes before the doors finally opened.
Not a ride, but I remember Fantasmic experiencing major technical difficulties one night, that they stopped the show, and began again from the beginning.
I think at one point or another, I've been stuck for a little while on almost every ride there. Those are the ones that really stick out in my mind, though.

It was two years ago, at the Universal Studios Island of Adventure. We were on the Spider-Man 3D ride. It's at the part where Spidey's web flings the riders up into the sky, only to be attacked by the Green Goblin.
The 3D effects were pretty convincing, so it actually seemed like we were suspended mid-air.
The Jurassic Park ride also stopped for five minutes, at the part where we encounter the T-Rex. Really uncomfortable.

LMAO!!!

Posted: 5/20/08 at 3:30pmWhen I was about 8 I was on this rocket ride at a carnival. All of a sudden something happened and instead of flying upright my rocket turned with me facing the ground. The operator stopped it right away but I am still afraid of heights.

Posted: 5/20/08 at 3:45pmNot stuck, but on Kingda Ka our car only made it half way up to the top before it rolled backwards down to the starting line. I guess it happens pretty often, because everyone (but me) seemed to love that it happened, and some people were calling their friends after the ride telling them they experience a "roll-back." They made us sit in the cars for like 10 minutes, then they launched us off again and we made it all the way up to the top.
