Saddam? Well, yes. But President George W. Bush too, if he takes the suggestion of US Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne.

The already discredited CNN reports "WASHINGTON (AP) -- Nonlethal weapons such as high-power microwave devices should be used on American citizens in crowd-control situations before being used on the battlefield, the Air Force secretary said Tuesday....

"Nonlethal weapons generally can weaken people if they are hit with the beam. Some of the weapons can emit short, intense energy pulses that also can be effective in disabling some electronic devices."

Isn't that fun?! Ah the memories of Ari Fleischer warning that "Americans better watch their mouths."

Nonlethal? Microwaves can cook the kidneys and livers of the people warming up food in them. I won't even stay in the kitchen when mine is on.

Many years ago I read that with simple modification a M.O. could be converted into a weapon. I didn't believe it, then I read something like this...

Back on topic.

What are the odds a certain group protesting in Crawford could be the first guinea pigs for this weapon.

How many wild mobs have there been in the US that the military has been called into quell in the past few years?

Even during the riots back in the early 90's, it was the police that originally (and finally) got things under control, and then the National Guard was brought in after things were under control to patrol certain areas.

What crowds do the military think they will be around to deploy and test this tool on? Isn't this just asking for martial law to be declared and troops deployed?

Or, is this intended to be deployed to police and fire departments for use? If so, who will be responsible for use and misuse?

Non-lethal weapons. Hmmm...too bad we didn't have those in place during the RNC in NYC. We certainly tried out best to keep those evil protesters in their place, but some cattle prods would have been nice to have.
