Yeah, double whammy yesterday. Tear down day for The Illusion (waaah!) AND tech day/set building for my friend's senior project. Wasn't horrible, except as soon as we'd torn down everything for The Illusion (which was a pretty complicated junkpile of a set), sorted out the costumes, cleaned the dressing rooms, and moved everything out to either the prop shop or the panic room, we got to start putting things UP for The Bleached World. And get more costumes and sort out more props and set more light cues and discover how heavily the legs and teasers are actually weighted.
Which leads me to a problem: the rope deck. Not to stereotype or anything, but all of the people in our play are either really nonmuscular girls (me!) or really nonmuscular theatre guys. And the one guy who could possibly help with ropes is a slacker and doesn't even come to rehersal half the time.
So, it takes me huffing and puffing and danging off the ground with all my weight pulling on the ropes to budge the heavier curtains. And I'm playing a part. I'll probably rip my costume.
Ah well, this is why we do it, isn't it?
