Help! I've fallen from so much rehearsal and I can't get up! — Page 3

Heh, yeah, this year, a dance company that a lot of people from our show belong to has its performances in our auditorium not even a full week after our show. The poor dears in it have two tech weeks in a row. Fortunately, I'm not one of them.

I'm falling over not from show rehearsals, but from rehearsals for my class performances.

Fabala: your school rescheduled due to school activities? My high school canceled a performance my senior year because a playoff football game was on the same day.

Haha, and for me...it's become more of a "Help! I've fallen from so LITTLE rehearsal, and I can't get up!" Seriously, since Cinderella ended...and since my college stuff is basically finished, I've had nothing to do. I've been sitting around, watching senseless television shows, watching old episodes of "The Office" on alluc.org...and generally being a useless human being. I did clean my room for an hour and a half yesterday, but that was basically by force. And I did the dishes today. But, honestly, it's taken so MUCH to get me to do anything productive over the past couple of weeks! I THINK I HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM!

End rant.

lovelyspotlight- if you're bored, go to the library and get some plays!! This is a rather addicting habit I've gotten into lately, much to the detriment of my schoolwork actually. Pick up plays, any plays, really. Depending on your library's stock, you can find anything from basic theatre repertoire (Shakespeare, Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, etc.) to really cool stuff like Beckett, Brecht, and Sam Shepard. If it doesn't bother your family/roommates (and even if it does!), you can even read them aloud to keep you in the theatre mindset! This can be really helpful, I've found, and really fun.

This is a really time-consuming and fun trick to expand your theatre knowledge and keep your creative muscles working!

Today in rehearsal for our contest play about the Holocaust, some of the cast, who is a Jewish family, had to practice crouching in fear as the Nazi's were destroying their home during Kristallnacht. It was seriously the most disturbing set of sound effects I'd ever heard. We turned off all the lights in the room and just played it while they practiced getting the lines timed right. At the end, there's this high pitched laughter as the crashes are coming to an end...it was just really awful. Especially for my character, because the entire play is supposed to be me looking back on my memories before I was forced to leave Germany on the Kindertransport. I was emotionally destressed. And now, I once again will be up into the wee hours of the morning. Maybe I should be working on hw now?

aspiringactress... I realize of course Brecht, Beckett, and Shepard are pretty traditional. Problem is, my town is so anti-art that they were the most non-traditional stuff in my library. Although, after looking at shelves of dusty "Tennessee Williams Complete Works Volume 8" and "Six plays by Eugene O'Neill" and "Understanding Shakespeare", a little Buried Child was a wonderful thing to find. I read it in one sitting.

Just finished a nice 1/2 hour character study in my room. Hope none of the family heard me crying... argh I'm obsessed.

im Millie right now and im Jimmy and ive been having rehearsals everyday, and was like completely overwhelmed. and now im on spring break and cant wait for practices to start back up again, whats wrong with me!?!?!
