yay. thanks! bumping. bump.
Wow thank you! this saves so much time for everything. You have wonderful suggestions!
Ok, there are ALOT of overdone monologues in there. Sorry! As a musical theatre major (as I assume many of you are from these posts) you want to do something that is completely unexpected. My suggestion for finding monologues is this :
- Research your favorite authors
- Read EVERYTHING of theirs
- Find something that is either from their early work or you have never heard of before and look through those plays, because chances are if you like the author and their style you are bound to find something that fit you
- Make friends with playwrights! They love having people read their work and something COMPLETELY new is always exciting for a casting director.
- And a good rule of thumb is if the monologue is posted on the internet, it is probably overdone.
I hope that helps a little bit! And remember you always want to at least two monologues from every genre prepared and able to work up quickly!
You're totally right, Erin Eloise. I made this list years ago, so I can't really advocate it anymore. But for, like high school and community theatre auditions? They're probably fine.
Um?! Thanks!!
And on this note, does anybody have a Lisa monologue from David and Lisa?
