I feel duely put in my place and embarassed by my own behaviour and vow never to do it again.

OT, but not: Having sort of taken on Sutton fans and their ilk in a too irreverent fashion, I would invite them -- and anyone else -- to read the odd post buried amid the negative TABOO chatter on the main board. Ms. Sutton apparently has appearing nightly at the Marquis, while her understudy was prominently posted out in the lobby, precipitating unecessary returns. I hope this is a joke, worthy of ... Orion and me. Seriously.

Oh Matt, if only your capabilities as a grammarian were as finely tuned as your easily wounded personal sensibilities. Poor little cream puff.

As for all these ticket returns because Miss Sutton was out, well, first, is her name above the title?

Don't cry for me, FindingNamo. If only you were as witty as you want people to believe. Does the superior air and snotty attitude make you feel better? Do you long to be that 12-year-old girl who could only put down others to attempt to appear of a higher class? Your name-calling skills are excellent, but it's too bad you are saying absolutely nothing of importance other than you want to be negative and mean. The lack of social skills and maturity you display is enlightening indeed.

I'm not as sensitive as you think. I just have a low tolerance for mean-spirited behavior. Something you apparently hold in high esteem. I might be a creampuff, but people generally like them better than old bitter pills. So I take it as a compliment coming from you.

"If only you were as witty as you want people to believe."

Once again, you're demonstrating what you think to be your skill at getting inside people's brains and deciding you know for a fact their motivations. You have no idea what I want people to believe. Why? Because you are not a mind reader. Why don't you just defend yourself from what you've decided is my "mean spiritedness" and not swoop in like the defender of the defenseless in threads that have nothing to do with you. Of course, I have yet to see anybody else ask for your help, perhaps they can take care of themselves?

The gentle parodying of the rabid fandom that happens in the main threads was just that, gentle parodying. You say you're not all that overly sensitive, and yet here you were feeling a need to defend others in this thread? Why? Who appointed you hall monitor? If you're not all that sensitive, why not let it go. I'm not mean spirited at all, but I sure bet you are a busy body little school marm in your life!

Stands up to testify. Shouts, "I believe".

Or maybe I just *get it*. Wit, like parody, can be so elusive to some people.

LOL !! Now who's reading minds? Pot-Kettle-Black You believe me to be a "school marm" and a "creampuff" for simply speaking out against mocking (excuse me, "parodying") behavior. Sounds like something a playground bully would say. Perhaps you are being a little "overtly sensitive" about my "gentle parodying" of you. You can't seem to let it go either, Sargeant Cynical.

By labeling me a defender, you are acknowledging that there was something to defend. No one asked me for my help, but the last time I checked, I didn't need to ask permission to post my thoughts. I haven't been appointed hall monitor. Do you think we need one? Isn't that interesting.... Sounds like you are only interested in making these remarks and not be responsible for what you say. Not trying to get inside your head (not an appealing thought), merely observing only what you have offered as an impression of yourself. But it seems I have gotten under your skin. If I'm such a littel creampuff, then why do you feel the need to be so defensive?

You seem a little sensitive yourself. If you're willing to dish it out, be prepared to take it.

"By labeling me a defender, you are acknowledging that there was something to defend."

Self-appointed.

I take responsibility for what I write. I just feel it's a better investment of my time to respond to feedback from the people I am actually writing to or about, ie, not you. So, at that I shall leave you, Nancy Niceties, to your mystical Island of Niceness where everything is beige, no assertions are ever challenged, and the only humor permitted is of the ultra-gentle cottony soft, Prairie Home Companion variety.

By the way, parody me all you want, just be clever. And understand that nobody but you needs to take care of anybody but yourself.

I think everyone needs to take a breath and sing Kumbayah (yes I probably misspelled it and yes I am joking on the Kumbayah unless you really want to sing it) and say one nice thing about the other person, AND BE SINCERE!re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: New Low Let's try to not get all upset after all its christmas where we are supposed to be of goodwill to one another and all that crap.re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: New Low The bashing on a lot of these posts is starting to get depressing, and yes I know some people's belief that I shouldn't read something if I don't like it, and that it may only have been intended as harmless banter but its a lot harder to tell sometimes than you may realize, but I like this board and everyone on it God help me, but when it gets down to name calling without even discussing the facts of whatever issue is at hand it gets redundant. I am not putting the blame on any person here I'm just saying the atmosphere of the whole board seems to be getting this way. So please don't yell at me, after all we have more that unites us than divides us.re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: New Low

There's no bashing, just badinage. I can only assume the very tender, overly sensitive types who feel that they will just wilt if the tone of the posts on these boards is anything but smooth, edgeless pointlessness came from battling households or something. Or worse, households with smoldering resentments that everybody is used to sweeping under the rug as long as everything LOOKS nice? Matt is so damn Peacekeeping Child it's pathetic.

Awwwww Namo! You called me Peacekeeping! That's the nicest thing you've said to me. Funny you consider peace to be pathetic.

I actually enjoy this banter. I haven't flexed my argumentative muscles in a long time. I actually don't do this in the outside world. For some reason, I carry higher expectations on a message board for those who share a common interest. That must be my big mistake. I have to remember that sad bullies are everywhere.

It's a pathology, the fact that you think it's nice practically verifies the diagnosis.

Clearly.

Diagnosis? I didn't know you were a doctor! You find peace pathetic and claim that the verification of my unnamed pathology is my pleasure in being called a peace keeper.

Peacekeeping Child. C'mon, try to keep up. The one in the household who feels it is his mission (one that nobody else asked him to take on) to make sure that all conflict is avoided, that any interaction be completely devoid of the actual messiness of real life including differences of opinions and most importantly communication styles. This child always ends up frustrated due to the fact that, as much as he wishes he could, human interaction can not be controlled and managed because real life is messy. Poor thing. It's sad really.

Peace is great. Peacekeeping Children are always crushed by their Sisyphian agenda. But keep up the good work!

When you are communicating, then I recognize it and enjoy the banter. But mixed up in all your genuinely intellectual thoughts are these childish name-calling and floundering justification for being mean or cruel to someone, yet you offer absolutely nothing for the sake of kindness other than ridicule and scorn. You accuse me of mind-reading and then try and sum me up with some Child Psych 101 label. I never mentioned you specifically in my first post on this thread, but you sure took it personally. What convenient little label do you use for yourself?

It's just because I have seen your type come and go on these boards before. "Oh the bashing, oh the meanness." Clutch the friggin pearls, Mary Berniece. It's like you're one of those people who isn't actually a lifeguard showing up and blowing a whistle at a crowded pool.

If people enjoy my posts, fine. If people don't, fine. You have dropped more than one mention of me in your posts in other threads about my whatever-spritedness and what you presume my intentions to be.

You have no idea what is going through my head when I post, least of all whether or not I think I'm funny. The fact that people I actually do respect on here get a chuckle from what I write now and again is good enough for me. That I don't measure up to your Prunella Prissypants standards is merely icing on that particular cake.

However, your presence here alone is enough to almost drive me back to the main board.

I have mentioned the behavior more than once. The fact that you think it was so often about you is merely narcissistic. There are others who flame besides yourself.

As you say, I have often seen "your type" come and go as well. You have no idea what is going on in my head either and the fact that I find your persistant derogatory name-calling quite offensive is a rather normal response. I am gay, but I don't use effeminate stereotypes to describe others who show sensibilities towards cruelty.
