Hey Buds Below....

Did anyone else buy the new DVD of ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER ?

I love it. Fun, lavish, some great songs and funny-funny Babs!

I did, Chum. "Coo, wher'd ya find it?"

At first I was a bit taken back at how overly "remastered" the musical numbers were -- but then I just decided to enjoy the film. And it is fun

I had forgotten how good some of the songs are - particularly "He Isn't You"

re: Hey Buds Below....

I have some rare LP's of Outtakes & deleted numbers from musicals

One is Jack Nicholson singing a song from On A Clear Day. The title escapes me. I still cringe, however, when I think how really great this movie musical could have been without gutting almost 1/2 the score

re: Hey Buds Below....

I'm sorry, but I doubt that the movie would have hugely benefitted from the inclusion of "Don't Tamper With My Sister"...

re: Hey Buds Below....

only seen it once (on TV) but do recall that the romantic lead in one of the the flashback (i seem to recall it was the Regency or Empire period from the men's coats and La Babs boobs on display right above her raised waistline)... was gorgeous and very hot. Very TOM JONES like interplay with his POV and Bab's. Love Nicholson in the film, would hope the DVD includes his singing outtakes... and for a great anecdote about the "Come to Me" number (on stage regional, not on film) listen to Faith Prince's live (Joe's Pub?) CD recording of her cabaret act. *and this would win the most awfully constructed and punctuated stream of consciousness post award*

re: Hey Buds Below....

Don't have it yet but want it!...I used Hurry Its Lovely Up Here as my opener for my cabaret act...it was a joy to sing!
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

re: Hey Buds Below....

that's a great song...the score actually has some wonderful relatively little-performed numbers...

That's a role I'd love to play sometime also - the Dr....Him and Henry Higgins and Captain Hook.

re: Hey Buds Below....

I'm sure that one of the songs from the show is used as backround music in the scene taking place at The Royal Pavilion at Brighton. Great scene! Fun flick.

re: Hey Buds Below....

Oh, there goes another song - "On The S. S. Bernard Cohn" - Daisy and Marc are having a drink.

The song at the Royal Pavilion is "Tosy and Cosh". I just looked them up. What does 'Tosy and Cosh' mean?

re: Hey Buds Below....

Babs is quite beautiful with a humble kind of sensuality in "He Isn't You", which I believe was "She Isn't You" in the stage musical.

re: Hey Buds Below....

the "love with all the trimmings" sequence rates a 10 on the hot-o-meter. and that jack nicholson song that was cut was called "who amongst us knows," i think. cecil beatons costumes were so cool! a lot of people don't like the film because it's not true enough to the original show, i.e. cutting too many songs and adding others, but if you take it as its own entity i think it really shines. "daisy- you're a bloody miricle!"

As weird as that reads to me, that guy is my uncle John. He has appeared in quite a few films, his biggest roles being the love interest in the 60's film, SHE, with Ursula Andress, and the male lead in ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. with Raquel Welch. He's a photographer and still lives in England. It was he who took me to see MY FAIR LADY at Drury Lane in 1959, with Julie, Rex, et al.

You're very lucky Feodor Sverdlov!

I am curious about The Royal Pavilion at Brighton.

LOL "Hurry, It's Lovely Up Here" use to be one of my audition songs, back in "the day". The last 16 bars or so were great to belt. Thanks for the mem'ries....

re: Hey Buds Below....

Oh, okay. Yes, absolutely to seeing MFL in London, with Julie. That I have a handsome uncle, who was in ON A CLEAR DAY... means nothing to me. I didn't even like that film. I was far more impressed that he was in SHE and ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. Oh, and a bit of trivia (sort of) - the day I saw MFL, Nicholas Hammond was in the audience. Of course, he went on to play Fredrich in TSOM with Julie. I met him that day, and as we were about the same age, and his mother was a friend of my uncle's, we sort of kept in touch, all these years. Although, I haven't heard from him in about 5 years or so.

Wildcat, LOL!!

I'm sure that Bab's boob during "Love With All the Trimmings" had a lot to do with me rejecting heterosexuality. :)
