Note of Trivia: ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER (the stage version) began as a colloboration between Richard Rodgers and Alan Jay Lerner under the title I PICKED A DAISY.
Production got far enough along that they even signed Barbara Harris for lead, until the ultimate quarrel between Rodgers & Lerner broke up the partnership.
They argued over who had the rights to "reincarnation musical" like a divorcing couple fighting over a summer home.
FINALLY, Rodgers get fed up with the pickering and handed project over to Lerner.
IMO, musical demonstrates Lerner's inability to come up with musicals with well-constructed, well-shaped plots that move show along at proper place.
The only TRUE hits of Lerner (BRIGADOON, MY FAIR LADY, CAMELOT) were based on material from other sources.
And I'm also sorry to rain on everybody's parade, but BOTH the stage and film versions of ON A CLEAR DAY lost money. As a matter of fact, ON A CLEAR DAY was the last time Streisand appeared in a film musical until FUNNY LADY, I believe...
