OMG! So, putting together the spring musical has become SO much more of a fiasco than I thought it would.
Vice principal Shipley has SLASHED the budget. He has no idea how much money it takes to mount a respectable looking show. Thank God we're not paying royalties! (We're doing an original show I wrote called THE ASSASSINATORS, about the illicit relationship between Lincoln and Booth).
Anyway, I was so STRESSED that I based this week's ENTIRE Theatre Corner Episode (MY WEBSERIES) on Relaxation Techniques. Here's a link: http://youtu.be/H75b-yDqxpI
I hope you're all enjoying the holiday season! Tell me what you think of my techniques and let me know if they work for you too!

1) Winston89, you've really hit the nail right on the head! But, by all means, don't limit yourself to Phantom. If you're having a particularly bad day, try tearing up Aspects of Love. And if it's one of those, what I like to call "three shots of Midori" days, imagine tearing up Woman in White. You may not even need the Midori!
Oh, who am I kidding!? We all could use a little Midori!!! LOL!
2) TheatreDiva90016, I'm a little confused by your message:
"You'd know who Angela was if your head was shoved so far up your.... uh. Never mind."
Are you saying that IF my head were shoved up my ______, then I would know who Angela was? I'm confused. And I still don't know who this Angela is that you're referring to.
Although, I do hope it's Angela Lansbury. I like to pretend she's my grandmother sometimes.

I know I'm giving this attention whore the attention that he wants, by writing this.
But, couldn't he be just a smidgen more entertaining? I'm mean, after all, he's a drama teacher. Although, it appears he's a fairly untalented one.
Pity his poor students that have to sit through his inanity on a daily basis.

Oh dear. It looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the libretto this afternoon!
:)
Just to clarify, JustAGuy: I am a drama teacher. I am not here to entertain you. I am here to inspire you. To instruct you. To lift you up to become the ultimate you. I like to think of myself as the LEADING PLAYER to all of my little PIPPINS and PIPPINettes that I guide on a daily basis.
If you are ever in Omaha, I invite you to sit in on a class of mine. Perhaps you could give a guest lecture on having a
BAD ATTITUDE!
I'm only teasing, JustAGuy. I actually think you have fire and spunk. I bet you'd be an amazing Booth in my musical, THE ASSASSINATORS. Incidentally, after I mount it this spring at the high school, I'm planning on doing a production at one of the community theaters here in the fall.
If you are in the area, or just want to send me eight bars of an up and bouncy via YouTube or Vimeo, I'd love to see you for Booth! Here's a little taste of what you'd be bringing to life:

I always knew that if I got a zing from any imaginary character from a Sondheim show, it would be Mrs. Benjiman Stone!
And during this magical time of year, Phyllis, how could you NOT believe that I'm a real person. I'm as real a the anger you very likely have toward Frank Wildhorn (save his work on B&C... I've heard that's to die!).
As for being derivitive, I suppose I am. If by derivitive you mean I DERIVE pleasure from inspiring those around me and I D-RIVE my students to perform better by my unique teaching techniques.
Then yes. I am derivitive.

Posted: 12/22/11 at 9:07amYou're also a sad phony, Mr. Ferguson. According to your Facbook page, and other bios, you attended Omaha Northeast High School in Nebraska and now teach there. There is no such school in the Omaha Public School system. No Vice Principal Shipley either. Thankfully, that means there are no young people who are subjected to your juvenile antics. Your persona here was not clever nor well constructed. We've seen better from worse.

The Leading Player? So you are building these kids up only to knock them down in order to convince them to kill themselves?

Oh, Bluemoon, if only that were true! Sometimes I wish I could just pretend I worked at Central or Millard North, instead. Alas, I am left to build my own drama empire, note by note. I am flattered that you took the time to look me up on The Net, though. I wish you would have requested me as a friend on Facebook! I like a good skeptic. Except in my classroom of course.
And to clarify my Pippin analogy, my goal is not to lead them to kill themselves. The choices they make are their own. I can only illuminate the path to greatness. It's up to them whether or not they wish to become the brightest flaming light in the night sky, or a boring drone.
I tell every class I have at the beginning of each year "look to your left, look to your right. One of these people is better than you. The other one will be more successful than you." Then I go straight into some "Zip, Zap, Zop."
Puts a fire under them EVERY time!
