I just attended a high school performance of Miss Saigon at a high school in California, and wow! It blew me away! I believe nothing was cut for the high school version, and they said everything that was said in the original Broadway production. (including whore, slut, sh!t, ass, etc).
What really blew me away was the fact that a real helicopter came down, instead of a projected one, and the scenery was absolutely gorgeous!
I was thinking that Miss Saigon might be too much for a high school to do, but if they've got enough talent and A LOT of money, I'd say go for it!
(BTW, the cast was half good, half okay. The ensemble numbers were energy-less, however, a lot of individual songs were very well performed!)
California's a big state.
Could you be more specific? Links? Photos?

Including Little God of My Heart?
Nyuck. Sorry...
Yeah I'd love to see photos too if you can find any.

it was University High School in Irvine, and sorry, I couldn't find the pictures. But the sets/costumes were just gorgeous!

I'm sure it'll get updated soon.
Wait...they did Side Show and Urinetown.
This is no typical HS.
My respect for them just shot up.
did it say anywere that it was the school edition because they might have just been performing the regular version... that would explain why there were no cuts.

Woah I go to school at UC Irvine and I saw the poster for Miss Saigon in Golden Spoon (my lover!) and I really wanted to go, and now I definitely do! Thanks for the heads-up!
I'm in a high school production of Miss Saigon right now playing The Engineer. MTI only has the full production available for license right now, but they're looking to condense it like they did with Les Mis.
HIGH SCHOOL BAT BOY?!? No way!
I went to the wrong high school.
Break a leg with this, gang. It's not an easy show to pull off.

Me too! I mean, if you look at their past shows, they are definitely a daring and bold high school. Good for them!
That's amazing! And their pictures from Cabaret look really cool. Dang! My school has been doing Seussical and 42nd Street...
this was so exciting to read!!
our school is putting on the first School Edition of Miss Saigon next year... and I absolutely cannot wait!! The school sounds a lot like ours, but I sure hope it goes as wonderfully!!!
I have friends that go there, they are very adventurous with their productions. I saw them do Beauty and the Beast Last Year and it was very professional. And my piano teacher used to accompany them a while back. They are very talented.
(Side note: I've performed at University High School! I had a dance showcase there for a summer program I did a couple years ago. The dressing rooms are disgusting.)
I go to the same school as lilmunkee22, so it's a relief to hear that a high school CAN pull off the show! At the risk of being non-PC, did they have a lot of Asians in the cast? Or were there just a lot of people in bad Asian makeup?
It must of been hard to get a helicopter come onto the stage!
It's actually not that difficult of a show to do. I feel the material works better in a smaller atmosphere.
That sounds awesome!!!
*Edited - because HOLY HELL I SOUNDED LIKE THE BIGGEST BITCH EVER...really sorry bout that whoever read it
