Hilary Swank

Ok, so I just came home from a question and answer with Hilary Swank and she is the kindest most down to earth person I have ever met! She spoke to the audience like they we were all her personal friends, it was amazing! When she was supposed to leave she said "No, no, I want to stay and answer everyones questions" and THEN after those were done she stayed and spoke to everyone individually and hugged and shook hands and took pictures. It was just so nice to see someone who is so talented and so famous act SO normal. She was an inspiration to me as all the other actors in the room. She deserves all the amazing things coming to her. Ok, I will stop now, I justwant to tell you all that you should go out there and see Million Dollar Baby and anything else she is in, support this wonderful human being!

re: Hilary Swank

I'm so jealous you had that opportunity! What was the occasion? I'm a huge Hilary fan, and she seems as kind as she is talented! She filmed The Core in Vancouver and I wasn't working on that set the day she was on, but all the crew said she was down to earth and treated everyone like equals. Plus she's from Bellingham, WA, which is 40 minutes away from Vancouver, so we'll almost claim her as our own! re: Hilary Swank

Plus, I read that she got a hideously infected blister while filming Million Dollar Baby, but told no one, and struggled on ever the professional.

re: Hilary Swank

OMG Ellie, she told us all that story tonight and it was painful to hear!

Tiff, since I am a SAG member and it's SAG awards time we get to view all the films for free and whenever the actors can be there to talk to us they are. The funny thing about this one is that we went to see the film last Sunday and I got the e-mail about Hilary on Wend and I was so bummed I had already seen it, but I said to my niece lets try and go down just for the question and answer session! And suprisingly they were so open to us and said come on in and sit on the floor in the front, so we were RIGHT in front of her, when I asked my question she looked down and me and was like "Hi there" with such adoration. And she smiled the whole time. If the picture comes out well I will send it to you!

I'm jealous too. One day maybe it'll be you giving Q&A sessions, la!

re: Hilary Swank

From your mouth to gods ears Ellie! I would love to be doing that. That was one of the personal things I told Hilary tonight, I told her "it would be an honor to work with you one day" and she smiled and said "You will"! I wish I could explain how much this means to me. That you for letting me exress all this to you!

re: Hilary Swank

You're welcome, la! Do you think she'll get a second Oscar, though? And didn't she beat Annette Bening the last time too? I'm sure Annette is thrilled at her being nominated again. Hmm.

re: Hilary Swank

M$B is definitely getting more coverage than Being Julia, and Hilary's the frontrunner right now, so I'm banking on a second Oscar.

re: Hilary Swank

JRB she is more than amazing, she is beyond nice, she is wonderful in every way! I feel very lucky to have met her. And I really hope I do get to one day work with her.

Ellie and Tiff, I do think for sure that she will win, I don't know I just have a feeling that she will take it again, and I thought that before I met her, I swear :)

re: Hilary Swank

I think she has the edge, but this is the toughest race--it's still a 3 way race if you count in that Imelda Staunton could pull a Halle and win w/o a GG. The SAG awards are going to be a strong indicator.

re: Hilary Swank

Will her previous Oscar count against her? And do you think people will vote for her because she's so nice, or 'cos she's talented?
#16

re: Hilary Swank

Talented. I don't think the nice-factor will have much to do with it, unless she goes on a huge promotional blitz, plus I don't think people would be clamoring to give her a second Oscar since she's a relative newbie (or at least, just a recent breakout star) unless she earned it.

I also went to a Q&A with Hilary, and she was just as sweet as laactress says. Glad you had fun!

re: Hilary Swank

As much as I adore Hilary Swank and M$B, it's just not an Academy Award winning role, nevermind performance. I really can't see her winning it, but if she did I would be ecstatic - she's fantastic. My bet is Imelda Staunton will win for what truly is the best performance of the year - male AND female. I'm also still hoping for a small miracle and giant upset - Kate Winslet winning. Now THAT would be well deserved.

ShbrtAlley44: I am so glad that you got to see her too! You can understand why I say the wonderful things I do about her :)

munkustrap178: I too would love for Kate Winslet to win as I love her, but I still think Hilary will win cause she did an amazing job in this film. HOWEVER I have not seen Vera Drake, so I guess I can't compare, YET!

BUT, Hilary is and will remain one of my all time favorite people in every aspect of the word!

re: Hilary Swank

If Nicole Kidman won an Oscar for just putting on a fake nose, Hilary should win for getting muscular. Seriously, I was truly moved by her performance and I hope she wins.

re: Hilary Swank

Thanks for the thread LA..it's so nice to hear that an Academy Award winner is down to earth and caring of their fans. I've always loved Hilary's work and I think she is one of the finest actresses around today. Hopefully today I will get to see Million Dollar Baby...although friends have told me that I shouldn't see it because I will be too depressed. Of course that won't stop me.

re: Hilary Swank

Glad to hear that Ms. Swank is as down to earth as she is, and totally gracious with her time. I do jhave to catch this movie, but am NOT happy that the NYTimes pretty much gave away the ending in the Arts section today....
