She denies she was referring to Billy Boy
She does have a sense of humor

Posted: 1/29/07 at 7:01pmYeah Fox knows better what she means than she does. She certainly does have plenty of experience dealing with evil men; remember the right-wing cabal? Newt Gingrich, the impeachment prosecutors, Ann Coulter. Oh wait, sorry.

Posted: 1/29/07 at 7:17pmIt was obviously a carefully planned-in-advance joke intended to demonstrate that she is not as humorless as sometimes rumored. It appeared to be effective enough in its own little way. Not a slip up by any means.

Posted: 1/29/07 at 7:27pmIsn't it funny how humorless Republicans (which is not all Republicans, by any means, ie papa and PJ O'Rourke, for example, but definitely the Roxy ilk and Fox Squawking Heads) don't even know how to mentally process a joke? All they know is when it's coming out of the mouths of somebody who isn't Murdoch-approved it must be something scandalous! "Kerry insulted the soldiers! Hillary slipped up!!!" It's like they're walking through life with the mental acumen of StageManager2.

The questioner was asking HC if she thought she was tough enough to deal with the "Evil Men" that the president has to deal with: Usama Bin Laden, Kim Jon Il, that Iranian doofus. She said "you think I haven't had experience dealing with Evil Men?" and paused and smiled.
Of course, Fox knows she's a Lesbian who hates her husband, so they would get that joke....

Mr. Roxy...
easy now, hush, love, hush.. I keep telling you wots your rush...
There is going to be PLENTY of opportunity for you to jump down Hillary's throat over some slip or another.. but this one makes you look petty (well, more petty).
Take a deep breath, kick back, read a little Ann Coulter or Ralph Reed... it is just a matter of time, she is only human afer all.

Oh, it was most definitely a slip-up of the first degree.
Of course, being blinded by one's own elitism would not permit some of those among us to admit the flaws of their Queen.

Lifelong elitist here and loving it!
I hate to break it to you but Hillary Clinton is not generally considered a queen by the people that I'm guessing you mean when you use the term "elites."

If it's no big deal, why is the war room spinning in full orbit...
CNN analyst, author, and former Clinton operative James Carville appeared on Monday’s "Good Morning America" and complained that journalists are too tough on Hillary Clinton. Referring to the comment made by the New York Senator and 2008 presidential candidate that she has experience dealing with "evil and bad men," Carville asserted that members of the media should be lauding her strong sense of humor. The Louisiana native also touted Mrs. Clinton’s nascent White House run, saying that it was the best campaign kick off ever. However, the CNN analyst became most animated when speaking of Hillary’s recent joke:
Diane Sawyer: "I want to turn to Iraq in a moment, but you mentioned sense of humor. So, who did you think she was talking about when she said that about bad men?"
James Carville: "You know– You know, journalists are funny. All you hear is, [Adopts whiney tone] 'Hillary don't have a sense of humor. She’s too cold. She does this and that.' And then, she cracks a joke, which, by the way which was a pretty funny joke. And they say, 'Well, look at this. Look at this.' You know? And I thought it was sophisticated, and the fact that she didn't answer it is an element of good humor. And I know her personally to be a very warm and humorous person and I was delighted to see that come out. Good joke, Senator. Way to go."
Great!

guys, you forgot who posted the thread, the person who claims to not be a republican (despite every post on politics says otherwise) and the person who doesn't vote.

i don't get the controversy over this one. i understand that everything any politician must be deconstructed, folded, spindled and mutilated by the opposition until it's turned inside out and can be used against the speaker, but this is a stretch by any stretch. regardless of meaning it's working perfectly for her.
those who want to see her do well see it as an example that she's learning to have fun on the stump and view the overreaction on the right as an example that they fear her as a candidate and will do anything to make her look bad. how does that hurt her? those who weren't sure if she could play with the big boys see her using a joke to de-fang those who would hoist her on the bubba petard. also, regardless of how it's spun it gets her headlines and that gets the breck girl and obama-lama-ding-dong off the front pages. that's bad, how?
slip-up? no, i think it as a rather calculated and quite smart turn of a phrase.
