What's that you say? Not in the most machoest music ever made! Gays!? Heavens to betsey, no!
Well, a new book is coming out (heh, heh) that claims to have the 411 on hip hop's DL. Not that I'm dying to know who is and isn't gay in hip hop, but I am so tired of this music as a genre it will be nice to see someone blow some holes (ooop, there I go again) into its puffed up exterior.
Will this get people talking about the DL?

Bortal, what makes you tired of this music as a genre? And why as a genre, do you feel it doesn't deserve it's own genre, or are you against Hiphop music on principle?
I'm tired of hip hop because its over. It hasn't been interesting since the mid-nineties. I'm tired of music that all sounds alike. I'm tired of hip hop's domination of pop culture for the last ten years. I'm ready for some new music to take the zeitgeist.
Oh, and because I'm racist.

I hate hook ups with DL rappers! You tell them to come over at 8 and they don't show till after midnight!
he really is folks. i saw him in his sheet.
Chris Brown, Mario, Omarion, DMX...sigh!
and the big daddy of them all--LL Cool J
I'd settle for just one of them being gay

So why do you think it's over. Can you give us an example of what you think was the last great Hip hop artist/album, and why nothing that comes after that compares?
If only they'd expand to reggaeton and include Daddy Yankee...
Just looked up Daddy Yankee...jeez! I am SO not ready for that jelly.

Oh Calvin, you read my mind. Dame mas Gasolina!
He's gotten a little carby in the more recent photos I've seen, but I think it makes him even hotter.
Or the Optimum Cable sea monster.
Well, you know, the Sea Monster and I have been in love for quite some time.
He's just not ready to commit.
I don't mind a little carby--esp when he's packing what is certainly "heat."
"Or the Optimum Cable sea monster. "
LMAO--me, too!
You know, LL Cool J is def as obsessed with his body as any gym queen I know. I just wonder if he's as obsessed with his body as I am with his body.
And there have been rumors about 50 and Eminem. I dunno if the rumors place them together or not.
And what's that slogan for M&Ms? Melts in your mouth, not in your hand?
Marshall could melt anywhere he wanted on me.
i love it when it forgets which id it signed in as.
Well, the big rumor is that Eminem was tutored Aristotle-style by Dr. Dre.
From what I understand, Fen, Jay-Z's AMERICAN GANGSTER CD is quite brilliant, but I wouldn't know because I am so over hip-hop.

I'd probably like hip hop music if so much of it wasn't about killing guys like me.
Roscoe, you just made up for THE ROYAL T's....LMAO!
For me ..... Rap and Hip Hop are very different. I dont like the "Pimp,ho,angry gangster rap", but I do enjoy some intelligent hip-hop like Common, Outcast.....
Alot of hip hop is dance music too...it's not all pimps and hos and blunts and 40s...not that there's anything wrong with any of those things.

Yeah, exactly, hip hop is a broad term now. Some even think it encompasses Raegaetton, which is something I"m totally enamored with right now, it's incredible music.
So, in that sense, Hiphop is very much not over, in fact, like Jazz, it's evolving, and is more probably than not, here to stay.
There is some excellent scholarship on Asian influence in hip hop by Ellie Hisama,
Are we finally getting the truth about Vanilla Ice?
