Nothing is more confusing than trying to understand the who, what and where's of hidden subtext on BWW.com.

Sometimes, an elusive reference is made that gives context to some of the personality conflicts that have gone on.

Sometimes, a poster comes back from the great beyond to let us relative newbies in on the secrets.

Sometimes, in a quiet, hushed PM, people will let you know that there is a history between X and Y, which is at the heart of a post that otherwise makes no sense.

If someone would just publish the crib notes and sell them at $5 bucks a pop, I am sure you would make a hefty profit.

I think this problem could be solved if all PMs were made public, posters were not allowed to "update" a post making the reactions to the old post obsolete and there was no Delete privilidges...for ANYONE.

Do what I do, YWIW. I just make up my own reality to fit whatever is said. And then I respond accordingly. It's a strategy worthy of the White House.

Maybe Craig could design a subtext/context link generator, it could provide a link in such posts to archived posts that would help newbies catch up. Kind of like the [Furious X-Men #989 - Ed.] brackets that they put in comic books. I hear. Not that I ever read those.

A good rule of thumb, one that I just assume and it's not anything anybody told me, is when you feel the need to write a "I don't understand why it's okay to mock __________," and I'm not thinking of anybody in particular, but the rule of thumb seems to be, that person generally might have done something to p. off or burned some bridges with the powers that be aqui.

I'm not saying, I'm just pointing out.

Namo - At this point, unless I know the person and the back story, I just try to watch the carnage go by and not jump in. The more I learn, the less I know about what has gone on.

Sometimes a map or a flowchart would be a bit helpful though. But alas, I will stumble along as best as I can.

Any issues that I've had on the board, I let go by the next day or two. The people who continually bring issues back up and can't get over it need to learn to move on. It's just a message board.
