Please, GOD, don't let this turn into an analysis of his relationship and interaction with Harry.

I was just about to come post this! Oh, Dumbledore. I love it.

Hmmm. Eight books and she never had room for that "Fact"?

When would it ever come up? "Oh, by the way, Harry...I'm gay."

Is this like how I believe that Joanna Marie "Jo" Polniaczek really was a lesbian?

Loves it!
I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

And is the Jo in the article JK Rowling?

Mythus - throughout the series, Ms. Rowling took MANY opportunities to comment on and describe the romantic relationships of many characters - both in the present, and in the past. It IS somewhat telling that this was never even alluded to in the narrative - especially since she did spend a fair amount of time detailing the interaction between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

It is. I played around with this idea ever since I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but to have this to be true. I am so happy.
"[Gore] was widely perceived as arrogant. If you know something, you're not smart. You're a smarty-pants. It's annoying. People get annoyed with your knowledge. It goes back to high school, to not doing your homework ... 'There's something I should know, I don't know why I should know it but someone knows it and I don't. So I'm going to have to make fun of him now.'"

He's a fictional character, people.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

D2 - true, but he's a fictional character within a series that has reached the world. Look at how entrenched certain fictional characters can become, and emblemic.
Scarlett O'Hara comes to mind.
They can mean a great deal, especially in consideration of what they say and mean to the audience - and one of this magnitude.

"se, GOD, don't let this turn into an analysis of his relationship and interaction with Harry."
DG, that was the second thought that popped into my head. The first was "Dumbledore's gay? That's pretty cool!"

We all know that fictional characters can have some serious impact in our lives. If they didn't, then we wouldn't be posting on a BROADWAY message board.

True, but who would have known? Only Alberforth and Ariana, and I don't think Alberforth would have mentioned it (maybe he was homophobic) and we know what happened to Ariana.
If there is a stigma about having non-magical blood, can you imagine the stigma there would be if the wizarding community discovered that you were gay?
Rita Skeeter may have been able to dig it up, but she probably thought that turning Albus's and Harry's relationship perverse was a better selling point.

Quite honestly, I think part of the reason I responded to the series the way I did was because of some sense of allegory.
If she's going to add the gay element after the fact, it somewhat diminishes that aspect for me.
I think I'll just leave well enough alone.

I think that's wise.
I could be angry about this, but by doing it this way, she's forcing some people to deal with the fact that a character they may have loved and looked up to and cried for is gay.

I wish she would have revealed this in Deathly Hallows. It's not like it would've hurt book sales, by the time people found out, they would've already bought the book. It's interesting to know, but kinda worthless now.
How can they see with sequins in their eyes?

I'm so unfamiliar with the series I don't know if I've been complimented or insulted.

this is very odd. I mean I'm happy he's gay I guess, but why? It doesn't add or detract anything from the stories at this point and just seems so random.
