Klute (1971)
John Klute's (Donald Sutherland) friend has totally disappeared. The only clue a connection with a call girl, Bree Daniels (Jane Fonda). Klute taps her phone in order to gain evidence against her to blackmail her into helping him find his friend. While Klute searches, someone is stalking Bree.

Beav - they're selling a Doris-pack at Sam's that I'm about to crack and cave in to
Not a big fan of Liz's films, but I have been and am a big fan of Liz the person.

I thought I was going to have to hand in my gay card while my membership was reviewed... the same way it happened when I confessed that I'm not a Barbra fan... *runs out of the room*

Beav - the answer has two parts.
The experience - we had dinner with him beforehand, and we got to see him happy, settled, aware and just thoroughly within his own skin. He's worked hard and overcome a LOT to reach this point, and it is spectacular to see the results. He was completely present in the show and has progressed tremendously as a dancer - a viable ensemble member for any company. He blew kisses to us at curtain call, and then took us around backstage and introduced us to everyone as his two dads (I thought I would have to carry Robert out of there, he was so verklempt!) And I was very pleased to see how welcome and liked he was by the cast and crew.
The show - I can't claim I went in with much objectivity regarding the music, as Freddie is one of the most spectacular rock voices ever (in my book.) It turned out that the music was probably the strongest point. The book is a horror show, and then they tried to make it 'site specific' by referencing Vegas, which only made it seem like the spawn of Satan and a lounge act. I don't think they've decided whether they want to create a concert environment or a theatrical experience, and the resulting mish-mash was simply embarrassing. I DO think that Vegas is its proper home. If they try to take this to NYC, I don't want to be around when the critics get ahold of it.
BUT, we were there to see 'the boy', and on that level, it was beyond wonderful

DGrant... I actually teared up reading your post. How wonderful... your boy's been lucky indeed with dads like you. I can't wait for the day I meet you and Robert.
Beav... I really, really like you now...

Posted: 5/16/05 at 5:13pmBeav - we really are two overly-emotional boobs. I just kept grinning like an idiot, and Robert kept having to wipe tears away. I guess it's good that we have each other - it saves two innocent people from having to put up with us!

Ah boys, I love reading these threads because they make me smile, so thanks!
DG -- I'm so glad he's done so well! (I can just see you and Robert -- well, Robert anyway -- with a hanky, dabbing away tears.)
DD -- You don't have to turn in any cards to me, promise! I think Liz is glamorous and gorgeous, but I don't know that I am obsessed or think she's the second coming.
Beav -- Argentina? Oy. I do enjoy that musical.
So, I have yet to get to Adam's Rib, maybe late tonight, eh?
