Just a random question asking what sorts of things you guys do when they're in flight?
I tend to bring quirky, funny stuff like RUNNING WITH SCISSORS or bring my ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT DVDs (Portable DVD player, yo!) and pass the time that way.

Posted: 4/22/06 at 12:25amThe movie inevitably sucks, and I can't sleep on a plane -- so I catch up on my trashy mags while listening to music. And drinking a bloody mary.

My mom flew home this weekend from FL (she was taking care of her ill daughter-me)
When she looked for the ticket online, the only seat left was "limited view." I'm not so sure that's a good way to put that for a seat on a plane. I said she should bring something to do because the limited view will not enable her to see where she crashes. Of course, that was just a joke but what's with the wording of "limited view?" How about "No window?"
Sorry, a bit off topic.
Anyway 9 times out of 10 I get in some crazy kind of coversation with the person whom I'm sitting next to. Some of the conversations have really been sky high crazy (no pun intended.)
Ex: Talking to the cute guy next to me about the drunk lady that was sitting in the next isle who locked herseelf in the bathroom for a long while and then told us she couldn't find her razor- *then we realized it was her razor phone*....that was 1 fun flight!
Otherwise, I sleep.
lol

"I generally fall asleep."
I do too, usually my flight is late or early or there is just a big time diference. Plus I don't get enough sleep in general so it's always good to catch up

My flights are always early because I'm in North F*CKing Dakota.
It's ok, though. Only three more months here!

I always bring trashy magazines, my iPod (with good earphones. Not the buds, but comfy ones, because I listen to it for a long time).
If I'm bringing my laptop, I tend to bring silly movies.
On my last flight, last week, I watched "Harry Potter 4" on Delta Song.
I also bring books sometimes.
Also, always water, snacks, goodies, anti-bacterial gel, Airborne...

I can never sleep on the plane, because the seats are so small. I was on an overnight flight to England.... and was the ONLY person on the plane still awake.
Usually I bring my iPOD or portable DVD player... I just flew yesterday and discovered that Continental has a Broadway station!
Usually I end up reading a book or magazine with a Bloody Mary... well the mix at least.

Posted: 4/22/06 at 1:11amI almost always fly JetBlue, so I usually watch TV when I fly. Otherwise, I read a book I bought at the airport or listen to my iPod.

I like to get those little invisible ink game books out of the airport thrift store things. I love them!

I'm a very calm flier. And I usually sleep. I can sleep anywhere, anytime, on a plane or train.

Posted: 4/22/06 at 1:36amdramamine. I get incredible motion sickness, and cannot fly or take really long car rides without motion sickness medicine. So I usually am awake for 15 minutes, long enough to get a drink and then I'm out for the remainder of the flight (cup still in hand)

Posted: 4/22/06 at 1:40amIf I am with friends, they are pretty entertaining. Unfortunately, I am often flying solo. I usually take my laptop and watch a movie. If not, I read or listen to music. Next Saturday I will be with one of the families I work with, so I will probably be helping to look after the little guy.

Posted: 4/22/06 at 8:35amI'd like to read but I get terrible headaches when I read in any moving vehicle. So I usually bring my MP3 player and listen to songs or maybe a book I've downloaded from audible. I also get motion sickness, so I usually take Drammamine which puts me out pretty quick once the plane gets in the air.

Vogue, CDs, and coloring books. If I'm traveling with my family, I jack the portable DVD player and watch movies.
And on trans-Atlantic flights, the little tv in front of you. I watched all 3 episodes of House twice, an episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, an E! Special on paparazzi, Will and Grace, CSI...
And still was bored for the rest of the flight.

listen to music, read a captivating book by Dan Brown or John Grisham, flip through some mindless gossip magazines, take a nap
I actually really enjoy flying.

Posted: 4/22/06 at 9:47amTwo words: LOGIC PUZZLES. I love those things. I discoverd them in those variety puzzle magazines, but later I found you can get a book of ALL LOGIC PUZZLES!! (I know, I'm easily excited.) Crosswords too. I also like to play Tetris on my laptop.

This thread caught my eye because on Tuesday I have a eighteen hour flight to deal with. The iPod battery and the Laptop Battery will both die during this flight so I'll have to decide what else to do to occupy my time.
