How and Why Did You Come to BWW?

My account was terminated by All That Chat because I started a poll (can you believe that--ME starting a poll?) and I was real bummed because I thought ATC was the only theater board on the 'net.

Then, a few days later, I was surfing and did a google on "Broadway Message Board" and up popped BWW!

The rest is... nearly 1200 posts and counting! :)

How and why did you first come to BWW?

I was reading someone's online journal and they posted a link to an article here. I read that and saw there was a message board. So after lurking for a few days I joined up and started talking and I never shut up.

Um...I was searching for information about BARE. I lurked for a week or two, then joined.

Why do we play with fire? Why do we run our fingers through the flame? Why do we leave our hands on the stove, although we know we're in for some pain? -tick...tick...BOOM!

I honestly don't remember how I found it... but I lived on the main message boards for a long time before I stumbled upon the Off-Topic board.

Now I can't seem to leave.

I became Broadway obsessed and wanted to find people tha tdidn't think I was such a freak. I searched for theater world and found this!

I did a google search foe pictures fromthe BC/EFA Fleamarket. The rest is well you know!... HUGS all!

The "main" Board is where you go to discuss Rent, Wicked, and Brooklyn and try to figure out who "this Leonard Bernstein" person is.

i googled it b/c i have a LOVE for bradway and i wanted some one to tlk to about it when im not in a show..i tried the main one but i haven seen enor bway or know enof about it to form an apinun on what they are talking about but i love talking to people who are into the same stuff im in to

A friend of mine who wrote an Off Broadway play last season told me about the BWW.COM.

I was checking the site out the night of the Tonys and noticed the Message Board.

That was one fun night!

looking up info on wicked a week before i was seeing it and wanted to see if i could find out when idina was back from vacation by reading what people wrote (relax... this was shortly before the tension started)... i decided to create an account and stay with it cuz the off topic board was so fun and the people are cool and it kept me informed on the happenings of broadway

Ah, Glebb...you arrived for the biggest celebration of all! I remember that night...I had just started posting. It sucked me right in.

The rest can't really be called history yet, as I've only been here for a few days...

Here in this cold white room tied up to these machines, it's hard to imagine life as it used to be. Laughing, screaming, tumbling queen... Like the most amazing light show you've ever seen. Whirling, swirling, never blue... How could you go and die? What a selfish thing to do... RIP Jason

I found the board when I googled something and the site appeard on front page of results. I don't remember what I was looking for, but I actually lurked for months before signing up.

I remember stumbling upon it, and each time I went back, I thought the topics were so interesting. Then I found the Off-Topic Board, and now I have no life.

In early August I was surfing looking for Broadway reviews and came across two interesting articles. One was on Carol
Channing and the other was a review on Naked Boys Singing. There were both very good and then I looked at the author's name...........It was the name of a teacher from my high school that I hadn't seen in almost 30 years ago. This person's BWW screenname was Dollypop. Although I did not have him for a teacher , I remembered him very well as our Drama Club advisor. I emailed him immediately and he remembered me. It brought back the only good memories that I have from my teenage years. He introduced me to the boards and I have become somehat addicted. I do enjoy gabbing with people who share my love of the theater. I do find the boards to be a challenge and sometimes insane. But the medication and the therapy has been a big help!.
