How do you mark up your avitars?

What is that one thing where a lot of you take pictures, change them with borders and/or type, and use them as your avitars? I think it was a website or something - am I right? Thanks for any help.

I imagine that they all use different kinds of photo processing software. I use iPhotoPlus to add borders, change size, crop, focus, etc. I used PhotoImpact Pro to add the Santa hat.

I use Photoshop to edit all of my avatars. Most of the good photo-editing software you seem to have to buy separately. Although BWW does seem to have a pretty decent avatar-resizing program.

Photoshop works if you have it. I use Paint since I don't have Photoshop. Sometimes, I use mytheme.com's animation studio.
